Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
Hello!
I know this has been a kind of on/off issue, and previously I believe force stopping, and maybe clearing the cache fixed it, but right now I just can't get the metadata to "push".
If I check properties on tracks via MMA, it shows a last played date. MMW does not after a successful sync.
I've tried closing and re-opening MMW, force-stopping MMA, and plenty of resyncs.
Just no dice: MMA still shows that the tracks have a last played value, and MMW refuses to sync those values.

Hi,
What version of MMW and MMA you use?
Also are those tracks synced from MMW and Do you play same tracks on MMW too?

MMA: version 2.0.4.1231
MMW: (traveling, so I'll report when I return: I believe I did install a beta at one point to resolve that misordered playlist issue)
I did tweak the playlist "structure", and can't recall explicitly whether I last did this between syncing working (it has in the past) or not.
I haven't played them on MMW, though I naturally could, of course.

Yeah, these came from MMW originally. I sync via playlists, most being auto playlists, and including some based on whether Last Played is set. Also are those tracks synced from MMW and Do you play same tracks on MMW too?

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
As an update: synced after traveling and NEW listens were captured, but the previous ones remain unsynced. Seems like there was simply some kind of window or bad sync where plays were not acknowledged during sync and are now just lost, and diff-ing is not picking them up despite them still being out of sync.
To be extra super duper clear, there are zero tracks that were added to my phone from a source other than syncing with MMW, very much including these mismatched ones

Last played & Play Count not syncing MMA->MMW
I have exactly the same issue as FangsFirst described in https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=108006
In summary:
- some tracks in MMW have Last Played Date of several months ago (e.g. May 2025), and a lower Play Count (e.g. 19).
- The same tracks in MMA have Last Played Date of this month, and higher Play Count (e.g. 23)
So, when I sync, those differences seem to skip analysis, and the Last Played date & Play Count are not updated in MMW. It's like those tracks have been flagged for exclusion by the sync algorithm.
Now, I listen to one of the songs *today* on MMA, then sync right away, just that one song's updated info is successfully sync'd back to MMW. But not all the others that have avoided sync-back to MMW for many months.
Why are those tracks excluded from the sync, unless I listen to them again right now and re-sync?
Will have to identify all the differences myself and re-listen to them all right now to force the sync of the correct metadata in MMW?
Or is there a way of forcing the sync of ALL songs' metadata from MMA to MMW?

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
Hey,
Was this resolved? I have exactly the same issue as FangsFirst described.
I have created it in my own thread here: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... p?t=108553
Thanks.

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
/EDIT - my separate thread doesn't exist. Posted my update in this thread.
Update:
I have gone through all my tracks played this year on MMA, and manually copied the playcount from MMA to MMW since Sync wasn't updating the metadata for these tracks in MMW. Not ideal. But at least they are now accurately showing the number of plays in my "master" list in MMW.
Sync is only copying metadata for tracks that I have played since the last time I sync'd. Sync evidently ignores the tracks that were played in MMA prior to the previous sync, even if their Last Played date is more recent than MMW and their Playcount is higher than MMW.
So, I assume Sync Analysis doesn't consider the Last Played date in MMA, but instead only looks at tracks that MMA marks with some invisible flag as Played since last sync. Maybe that method is faster than checking the Last Played date, but flawed if it leads to incorrect data in MMW.

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
Can you both confirm whether the playcount/history actually updated correctly in MMA?
There was another report from a user that with the introduction of the new audio engine in MMA 2.1.0, the play history is occasionally not updated (we haven't been able to replicate this), so I wonder whether that could be the root cause.

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
I have also recently started experiencing this issue. I'll play a whole album on MMA and then sync with MMW and it shows only e.g. tracks 1,4,5,6,7,8 played. Just missing like 2 in the middle.
Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
I think that there are 2 issues being reported here:
1) MMA fails to update play count/play history in some cases. This is a regression in 2.1.0 that occasionally occurs when Gapless playback is enabled. It has been fixed in 2.1.0.1278 which has been released to beta testers and is currently rolling to all other users.
2) Sync fails to update Playcount/Play history (even when the count is accurate in each of MMA and MMW). We haven't been able to replicate this issue.
Thanks!

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
Yes, I think this is what's happening in my case. When I look at the properties of the played file in MMA it lists 0 play count and last played never.rusty wrote: ↑Fri Oct 03, 2025 11:38 am 1) MMA fails to update play count/play history in some cases. Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
The bug in which Play history / Play count sometimes fails to update is fixed in MMA 2.1.0.1278.
Can you confirm whether it solves the problem for you?

Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
This seemed to be resolved (enough?) for me for a while, but right now I've got a playlist of "unplayed" things (based on whether "Last Played" is "unknown")
MMA shows a "Last Played" on many of these.
MMW does not on the same tracks.
Sync currently says "Everything is in sync"
It's possible I was seeing a mix of the regression you're referring to with this issue as well, but I'm definitely out of sync.
I've occasionally solved it by just muting my Windows audio and playing a manually created playlist overnight...obviously not ideal!
I did just try finishing out playing the track I was on, and it was removed from MMW when I synced again, but the dozens of other tracks are still not syncing—when I check MMA's properties for these tracks, I can see the "Last Played" date on them.

I haven't parsed the data to this level, but it "feels" reasonable to me; there's a sense that there's some kind of "gap" in the recording of last played, where if I miss a window, it falls into that gap, never to be recovered.Bluesky wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 3:52 am Sync is only copying metadata for tracks that I have played since the last time I sync'd. Re: Last played not syncing (MMA → MMW)
Just for a little specificity: https://imgur.com/a/4ButTwh
These are taken from the same playlists. They update on both ends—maybe this plays a role?
This is all "recently added to the library and not yet played" (a few other more "stable"/"neutral"/"manual" filters like exclusion from playlists).
So:
MMW adds to the playlist as I introduce more into the library
MMA (generally) subtracts from the playlist as I play things
Other possible contributors:
[*] Yesterday (between syncs) I was playing some of the newest unlistened stuff on MMW
[*] I think I may have canceled another sync a few days or so ago? I have only the "feeling" that I may be contributing to my own problem here still.
