Keeping Album Art out of Gallery

I recently purchased a cheap android tablet to replace an older cheap android tablet. The new one is running Android 16, and I have MMA Pro v 2.1.2.1320 installed.

I have over 100Gb of music on an Micro SD card, almost 21,000 files spread across more than 1300 folders. I moved the card from the old tablet to the new one, and all off the album art appeared in my photo gallery. I had been able to fix that on the old tablet using a .nomedia file, but with newer versions of Android, you can't put that file in certain default folders.

I created a new folder "MyMusic" and moved everything into it, and was able to put the .nomedia file there to get the album art out of the gallery. But now, I can't get Media Monkey to scan the new directory. I have added MyMusic to the Library Folders but nada, nothing, zilch.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Usually in Gallery app you have settings to tell app to respect .nomedia file.
Or try these known solution:
- To fix your gallery app showing photos despite a .nomedia file, you need to clear the media index cache and force Android to rescan the folder.

- Quick Fixes to TryClear Gallery and Media Storage Cache: Go to Settings > Apps, find your Gallery app (and Media Storage or Media Provider if visible under system apps), tap Storage, and select Clear Cache.

- Restart Your Phone: Reboot your device so the system media scanner re-evaluates folder flags. The .nomedia file must be completely empty (0 bytes) and placed directly in the target folder.

- Rename the Folder: Open a file manager, rename the affected folder (e.g., add an extra letter or a dot . at the beginning of the folder name), open your gallery, then rename the folder back to its original name.

- Recreate the .nomedia File: Delete the current .nomedia file using a file explorer, and create a brand new, empty file named .nomedia inside that folder. As you moved SDCard from one device to another it is possible that permissions are not correctly set.

However, my problem is not that the album art is still showing up in the gallery, it's that Media Monkey won't scan the new library folder (MyMusic) that I created, even after adding it to the Library Files list.

Well that is different thing Then we will approach it other way around. Try this:
1. User phone file manager to delete all the Artworks in Media Folders with your music. It should be named "albumart.jpg"
2. Clear gallery Cache
3. Delete .nomedia Files
4. in MMW under Phone profile -> Sync profile (TAB) -> Tagging, Disable sync artwork to folder and enaable Save Artwork to Tags
5. That should fix it on next sync if not immediately.
