Book on Tape - importing multiple CDs

Hi,

I'm new to MM since I just bought it. I couldn't figure out a way to import all the CDs for a book on tape with the correct track number. Each CD has a track that starts at 1. So I have too many 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, etc. What is the most efficient way to import all the CDs with each CD starts the number in a file name where left off from the previous CD. For instance, let's say there are three CDs for a single book on tape.

CD 1 - tracks 1, 2, 3 -> rip to 1.mp3, 2.mp3, and 3.mp3
CD 2 - tracks 1, 2, 3 -> rip to 4.mp3, 5.mp3, and 6.mp3
CD 3 - tracks 1, 2, 3 -> rip to 7.mp3, 8.mp3, and 9.mp3

If there's a way, then that would be very helpful!

Personally I'd make the track numbers:

101,102,103,104...
201,202,203,204...
301,302,303,304...

I don't care exact format as long it correctly goes from one track to the next track correctly.

So how can I do that?

Sort the songs on track number and send them to played. They will be in order if you follow Trixmoto's idea.

The first number indicates the disc, so 101 is track 1 on disc 1, 202 is track 2 on disc 2. As album you would use the same value (so no disc# in album field) and than you can see all tracks on the album (from all discs).

So I set the number manually for each track? I was hoping for something automatic.

Or just renumber then. If CD 1 had 10 tracks, start CD 2 with 11.

Thats what I do with multiple CD sets. It goes real fast if you use keyboard shortcuts to move to the next track. Alt arrow.

I know it sounds simple but HOW? Where is it in the menu? What commands????

Right click on a track and select properties. Modify the track# field. Do this for each track on the disc.

Alternatively you can just double click on the track field in the tracklisting to edit the field directly (slow double click).

I believe this also can be done by a script.

Oh man! I just did the rip for all of them. I got the file names... But the track title are still "Track XX". I would hate to do this by hand. Any ideas? I have one more book to do.

If the filename contains the title you can use Auto-Tag from Filename. In case you don't have the title in the filename you could use Auto-Tag from Amazon, but that can't lookup audiobooks on Amazon (just looks up popular music). I don't know if the WebSourceTagger script from Steegy can look up audiobook information.

My favorite solution, when ripping multiple CDs of a series of Teaching Company lectures:

Simply rip the CDs, and for the first CD, in the Rip CD dialog box, click the Configure button, and edit the labeling pattern to be something like this:
Main Directory: C:\PD\Teaching Company\Literature-Fantasy\
Subdirectories: (leave blank)
Filename: 1<Track#:2>

(I create a new subdirectory for each course, and enter it in the Main Director editbox as above)
Each time I stick a new CD in the drive, I manually increment the first number in the Filename editbox, for example, for the second CD, it would look like this:

Filename: 2<Track#:2>

and for the third CD it would look like this:

Filename: 3<Track#:2>

Then your tracks are
101.mp3
102.pm3
...
112.mp3
201.mp3
202.mp3
...
212.mp3
301.mp3
...
and so forth
