Damaged and copyprotected CDs

Post by suissebear »

Jiri,

two questions.

1. For certain CDs (like Platin Vol.12, Bravo Hits 39), not even track information is displayed by Songs-DB.

Scanning the same CDs with other rip software, I'm told the TOCs have been purposefully created with invalid data, yet I'm allowed to ignore the bad information and continue anyway. Is there a way to rip copy-protected CDs using Songs-DB?

2. I've managed to rip some badly damaged CDs. However, replaying them from hard disk shows some of the songs to be in pretty bad shape.

To avoid having to listen to each song post ripping to assure quality, is it possible for Songs-DB to display a warning during the ripping process if larger problems occur?

Thanks again!

1. Thanks, we will try to find out what can be done with copyprotected CDs - just some must be purchased... It would possibly help if you have MS Access and can get "TOCdata" from table "Medias" for this CD in Songs-DB database. However, no problem if you cannot.

2. I recommend to use jitter protection for ripping such CDs (can be turned on in the setup dialog for each CD drive). Anyway, we plan to show some error log in the end of ripping process.

Jiri,

thanks.

I've viewed the Media Database with MS Access however could only find entries that correspond to non-copyprotected CDs.

Since the application doesn't display any tracks for protected CDs could it be that no record is written to the database?
