My music library is just shy of 20,000 tracks and have been trying to tidy things up. In setting the genre of some tracks I managed to wipe it from everything.
I looked at the backup database and it has only about 1/3 of the tracks with genre information.
I keep itunes updated because I use it to generate Genius Playlists. That has the genre listed and it is in the library export xml.
Is there a way of getting MM5 to recognise the genre. I have tried the option to import playlists etc. But that didn't do anything.
Thanks

Did you import from iTunes on scanning?
Did you export Playlists per Genre? Because then you'd need to manually tag the files on the Genre Playlists within MediaMonkey with that Genre.

What a simple idea. It didn't occur to me.
Make a playlist based on genre. Import that and job done.
Thank you
