[SOLVED] Default action for files is wrong [#20028]

Post by raulmori »

Hello community,

Default action for files doesn't work.

Even though I have the parameters set, when I do double click on a file it doesn't add it to the playlist, it plays it instantly

Any help?

Thanks!

Sorry, I told you that it works but doesn't works. When I close the program, the settings aren't deleted but the problem persist :(
When I "click" on the file, it deletes the list instead of adding the song to the end.

I think I can confirm that.

Even when the default action for play now is set to "play selected only" as opposed to "Clear list and play selected", it still clears the list.

The choice to add the entire main screen to now playing works and does get turned off when I choose those options, but there does not seem to be any option to simply insert the selected (double-clicked) file to existing now playing list , and to play it now.

Also the option setting to play selected files only blanks out after a restart. I think this area needs some work.

Hi,
Hmmmm, I can't replicate. Very likely that I miss steps.

May I ask you two to put exact step by step what you do to trigger it in order that I can try and succeed to replicate?

:( Looks I am blind on something so obvious you two are doing :(

Peke, thanks for trying to check this out!

First, populate the now playing with any playlist or any set of tracks ( say one artist, multiple tracks).

Then display a different set of tracks in the main window. A different artist makes it easy to see what happens.

Now with settings set to "play selected only" as opposed to "Clear list and play selected" double click any track in the main window

The entire now playing is still deleted, and replaced with the list of tracks currently in the main window, instead of inserting the double-clicked track into the existing now playing list.

I can achieve the result I want by using right-click, play now. The settings you showed us suggest this can be achieved with a double-click default action.

As previously reported, with play now selected, if you happen to be in shuffled mode, it plays some other track now.

ps This morning I cant reproduce the setting going blank after restart, that may have been a one-time quirk.

Re shuffle mode, revamp of shuffle behavior is ongoing for MM5.1, so I would exclude it ATM.

Double click in middle window, when it contains a list of tracks

I did not see you do this in the video

Maybe somebody else can try this as per above steps and report what happens???

What do you have both default action's set to do? I set it to Play last, double clicked a file and it was added last.

OK, I understand what is happening.

At first I thought maybe it was the view you were using (Browser View) so I tried that and no difference. Then I rechecked your settings and noted you were using Play last and play next, and not Play Now as I mentioned in my steps above.

With all other settings left same, and under Player options default actions using Play next, or play last it works as advertised for a double-click, that track is inserted into or added to the existing list of now playing. This works the same as right click, play next etc.

However when I set the default actions to "play now" and double-click a track, the entire now playing list is replaced with the entire current contents of the main window. This is different from the right-click play now action.
but there does not seem to be any option setting to simply insert the selected (double-clicked) file to existing now playing list , and to play it now.

Hi,
I sent you PM with extended Video with exact your steps. I still can't replicate.

Are you sure that you have "Play selected only" selected in Playback options and also for Music Type in Playback tules options or you have default set? Note that Playback rules setting overrides default action set in Playback.
