sort by date [#17607]
just making the switch from MM4 to 5. I'm liking the interface so far, but one thing seems odd.
When in Music, and I select Genres, then select one of the Genres, I'd like to see the albums sorted by Artist. There is a sort by selector that I can change to Album Artist. BUT, it reverts to the default Date every time I reopen MM.
Is there a way to make Album Artist stick?
and secondarily, why would Date be the default?
thanks for your help

I'm unable to reproduce this on the latest MediaMonkey 5.1 beta. Let us know if the problem persists once you upgrade to MediaMonkey 5.1.

Re: sort by date
a bit more information - I think I'm looking for the ability to customize sort order for different scenarios. So, for example, when I'm browsing music by Genre, it would make sense for the artists listed to be in alphabetical order.
However, when browsing the next level down (after selecting one of the artists) , when looking at each of that artist's albums, those would make sense to be ordered by date.
So, is there a way to set the sort order to be different in these two scenarios? And at a minimum, is there a way to get a selected sort order other than date to stick, after reopening MM (my original question)?
Thanks for any advice,
Karen

Re: sort by date
Thanks. I've installed 5.1 beta. Still seeing the same problem.
I open the program. Looking at Music, I select Genre from the icons along the top of the main panel. Then when I select any Genre, the displayed albums are sorted by Date by default.
If I change this to Album Artist, then that holds when I look at different Genres (although sometimes it doesn't. after selecting Album Artist a couple of times, it then tends to hold). However, if I shut MM down and reopen, the default sort of Date is restored (100% ).
Similarly, if, after changing the Genre sort to Album Artist, I go back to Music and look at Artists, and select one artist with multiple albums, they are sorted by date (as they should be for this view). BUT, if I return afterwards to Genre, the sort has reverted again to Date.

Sorry, not sure why the folder was empty. Please check the folder again now.
If it still appears blank then dropbox is not cooperating and I'll have to find another means of sharing a document with you,

Re: sort by date - solved
Today, MM5 is working as expected. The artist list is by default sorted alphabetically, and albums are by default sorted by date. I can't reproduce the problem I had for the last couple of days either.
it's very strange, but I'm happy that I can now use MM5 as a simple intuitive interface for others in my household to listen to our stored music.
Thanks for trying to help me solve the problem.

Change sort album from DATE (recently added) to ALBUM
Hi,
When I click on artist, I get the album grill. There is a sort option proposing DATE or ALBUM. It is always defaulted to DATE, most recently added.
I scan and rescan options within MM5 bar and can't find anything.
Is there a way to default it to ALBUM instead of DATE. It will suite my needs with greater efficiency.
Many thanks, have a day of happiness
