Hi,
I've noticed this behavior for a while and I finally found a way to reliably repeat the issue:
1) Auto-tag the current playing track in the Now Playing view and save the updated information.
2) Minimize MM
3) Maximize MM after some time, once the the current playing song is off the Now Playing view when minimized.
4) MM still shows the songs as they were when it was minimized, instead of updating itself to show the current playing song in the middle.
A quick way show this to scroll the list after #1 so that the playing song is at the bottom of the view.
Once the new track has started you can maximize MM and see the issue.
Note. If MM is maximized the whole time, it will continue to show the current playing song as it should

Is Auto-Tag required to replicate this? ie. if you don't Auto-Tag the Filelisting's Playing node does update the position on your setup?

Re: [3033] Now Playing not updating when minimized
If I don't do anything, it behaves as you would expect.
I kept thinking it was because I would physically delete a track every once in a while, but then I discovered the same behaviour with auto-tag
