MM5 smart playlists override specified sort order

Post by bdb484 »

I have an inconsistently recurring issue where my smart playlists sort alphabetically by track name, rather than using the given sort order.

Virtually all of my playlists sort by Date, Album Artist, Album, Disc, Track, but very frequently, I find them sorted on the track name instead.

If the computer is running slowly enough, I can see that MM5 actually loads the playlist as expected, but then snaps into alphabetical order. Strangely, the caret is still on the # column, indicating that it is sorting on that instead, but as you can see, it is very much not true: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/n4t0xr8i ... bzgpz&dl=0

Although this has been happening for years, I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to when this will or will not happen.

As far as I can remember, manually sorting on # or refreshing the playlist has always solved the problem, so this is an annoying but not dealbreaking issue.

I'm running MM5 5.0.5.2695 on the following machine:

We're unable to replicate this, so a debug log (step 4b) will be needed if you can reproduce this on the latest MediaMonkey 2024 release: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643

This will help a developer analyze why this happens on your setup. Thanks!
