New Drive installation Play Now doesn't work

Moved to new computer after drive crash, Windows 10 downloaded the recent MM 4.1.31.1919. After installing and scanning library, play now will not play flac songs. When selecting a song on an album above, it will not show the track at the now playing lower window. The lower window is stuck on a previously selected track and stays there. Tried deleting and rebuilding/scanning database, same song is stuck in now playing lower screen. Uninstalling the program (including registry entries) and reinstalling clears the now playing song, but the first song selected in the main window becomes stuck there regardless if other songs are double clicked above. Tried new install and before scanning, select "locate moved missing files" to eliminate drive ID issue. No joy. The other symptom happens occasionally during the process - Double click on main window first track, then the tracks below are "scrolled thru".
Issue is the playing now "stuck" song in the lower window won't play or clear, and the song selected in the main window will not play...
I have not re-downloaded to try that....but it seems very unlikely....
