split multi-value not working

Hi there,
I have a little problem with one addon: split multi-value fields.
It simply does not work. In the status bar there is the message "clean multi-value fields" but nothing happens - except:
sometimes there is one single change in one field of the first selected track, one , is changed to ; - but thats all.
I reinstalled the addon of course and i changed language from german to english - nothing helps.
Any idea what else I could try to get it working?

That's exactly the intention of the addon. If, for example, you have a song whose artist is set to "The Chainsmokers & Coldplay", but you want the song to show up separately under "The Chainsmokers" and "Coldplay", then you'll want to replace the "&" with whatever character you have chosen in Tools > Options > Library > Fields > "Split multiple value fields with". The default is ";". The addon simply automates that process.



Does this clarify, or is it still not working as I described?

Thanks for your reply, usage is clear. I tried it again but:

if I use one single track, the changes are made but the process does not end. The message "Clean Multi Value Fields" remains in the status bar (for more than one hour if nothing else is done).

If I try to clean multi value fields for multiple selected tracks, only the first is done and the message remains in the status bar (probably the process is still busy with the first selected track)

Edit:
Meanwhile I tried:

Change Language from german to english
uninstalled all unused addons
re-installed this addon
Ensured that release of MM and addon is always the newest
tried other addons that change field values: "swap artist and title", "replace string" - both are working
