Does a nested AutoPlaylist update?

I want to have a static Playlist of files I curate also include a nested AutoPlaylist that would update with it's CURRENT contents.
You can tell I'm a noob migrating from iTunes.

You want the static Playlist to inherit content from the AutoPlaylist or the other way around? The latter is possible with Playlist is Criteria.
