Phone App - Custom Nodes?

Post by JPEG »

Hey y'all, I've been a MM user for about 7 years now but something that has always bugged me about the phone app is how the app defaults to "Artists" as a sub node for "Genre" and only searches based on "artists" as opposed to album artists

This has always lead to frustrating situations where an artist with frequent features gets 20+ results on the artist search. Example searching "Tyler the Creator" brings up "Tyler the Creator and Vince Staples," "Tyler the Creator feat Frank Ocean" "Tyler the Creator feat Earl" and so on.

Is there a way to customize the search so that it searches for "album artist" instead of "artist". Since typically that's what I'm looking for in the first place.

Alternatively is there a way to either force the app to read album artist instead.

Or more simply, if there isn't a way to adjust the app, is there a way to copy the album artist field into artist for every file in a library without going 1by1. I'd prefer not to do this since I'd prefer there is additional info in the artist tab I'd like to keep, but if that's the only way so be jt

There is no user customization for this.

However if you use multi-values for Artist you don't have this issue. So Tyler the Creator; Frank Ocean would show as Tyler the Creator in Search and under Genre you'd have an entry for Tyler the Creator and an entry for Frank Ocean. This means all the variants of Tyler the Creator with another Artist would only show once under Tyler the Creator.
