Lots of Bugs encountered (build 1248 - Brax3)

Post by CosmicKnowledge »

Hi Rusty. I'm running MMA v2.0.5.1248, the free version (I can't run the paid version on the Brax3 phone since it doesn't use Google Play for privacy reasons).

Problems:
  • Crashes a lot for some unknown reason. Whenever it asks to send the log, I send it. Android says the application is unresponsive quite a bit.
  • After using car bluetooth receiver (car is shut off), music stops, which is good. However, it randomly starts playing through the cellphone speaker around 1 minute later.
  • When the device is off, and I unlock it, the GUI is sluggish and unresponsive, often leading to a crash (with Send Report option) or Android saying that the application is unresponsive.
  • Significant usability and playback issues:
- Also, it may show a pause icon, indicating that it is playing, but it does not.
- If the play icon is visible, pressing it may show the pause icon (as expected), and the timeline may show, but no sound comes out and the current position indicator does not increment.
- Next Song button is sometimes unresponsive.
- Sometimes when going to next song, it doesn't play at all (same behavior as 'pause icon visible' above), but advancing to the next song will cause the next song to play properly.
- Very often when playing a song, or when advancing to the next song, the next song will play but it plays for 0.5 seconds, then starts again, repeating but playing the rest of the song.
- Sometimes if a song gets stuck, as described above, you can advance to the next song and it plays, and you can use the back button to go back to the original song that doesn't play and it plays.

Hi,

Not to be dismissive, but we're probably not going to look into these issues since we're about a week away from releasing 2.1 and it would make more sense to try 2.1 on your device as it may fix many of these issues.

But can you clarify: did you install 2.0.5 from the Amazon store? I thought that it only supports Amazon devices since August (and that we consequently need to find an alternative to the Play store for users such as yourself). Also, can you tell me what store the Brax 3 is pre-configured to use?

Thanks!

I'll be glad to try 2.1 when it comes out.

I installed 2.0.5. from the Aurora store. It provides an Anonymous account to interface with the Play store but it doesn't support purchases. Brax3 is pre-configured to use Aurora store and F-Droid by default. It runs IodeOS, which is Android 15.

I think it would be better to run your own payment gateway. The problem with any store is that they are not private. In one way or another they sell your data to big-tech through dependency APIs like Google Play. As you may already know, de-Googled phones use MicroG to emulate Google Play APIs but it's not capable of doing transactions.
