Today I noticed some unexpected behaviour when syncing music from Win11 PC to flash drive using MM 2024.2.2.3222.
I manually modified some 'Title' and 'Artist' metadata in 15 tracks that had already been sync'd to a flash drive, then re-sync'd. The 15 files appeared to be transferred successfully. MM is using it's default file locations for Music, so ...
\Music\<Album Artist> - <Album>\<Track #:2> $Left(<Artist>,20) - <Title>
I checked the flash drive, and the 15 newly written files appeared to use the old metadata, when constructing the file names, i.e. the Track and Artist fields from before I'd modified them. Almost as if MM had cached the old metadata somewhere, and used that instead.
To make certain the files had been transferred, I deleted those 15 tracks from the flash drive, and re-sync'd. Again the files were re-created with filenames using the old metadata.
The only way I found to work around the problem, was to remove the associated albums from the 'Sync List', then sync to remove them from the flash drive, then re-add the albums and re-sync. Only then did MM use the correct metadata.
Any way to explain this? Surely it's not intended behaviour?
Thanks.
