Illegal characters

Post by Guest »

Hi there,

I am just testing Songs-DB and I like it a lot. Thanks for the good work Jiri!

A feature I am missing or haven't found until now, is the possibility to eliminate illegal characters when auto creating file names from tags.

Is this already implemented or can it be included in one of the next versions?

Thanks,
Heinz

Actually Songs-DB can already do such a thing, but in a rather undocumented way. There is a section [FilenameMappings] in SongsDB.ini file, where a hexadecimal values define mappings between sequences of characters. For example E1=61 means that "▀" is mapped to "a". You can find hexadecimal values of characters for example in "Character map" included in Windows. If you want to edit SongsDB.ini manually, do not forget to close Songs-DB before your actions as it can modify the file during closing.

There will be more comfortable way of setting this added to Songs-DB in some of the future versions.

Having trouble getting this to work

Post by stutes »

I tried this the other night (my character list is below), and I don't seem to be able to get this to work. I closed song-db, and made the changes, but the periods and the apostrophes still show up when I rename the files.

Oops, you are right, the updated list isn't properly read to Songs-DB and so it doesn't work. I have fixed it and you can test it in the next beta release (in few days).

Thanks,
Jiri
