Title column contains track number, how do i remove this?

Post by hawksaw »

If I click on an album in the artist node, it shows the list of songs but for some reason the title column contains the track number in the format: 3. Song Name. In fact I'm not even sure it is the track number because sometimes it appears to be one which doesn't correspond to anything.

There's already a track number column, I don't need the information twice. Anyway to remove this?

Not in MM2, but in MM3 I believe this number will be in a separate column.
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

I don't use MM for tagging much, but it seems like it could be done.

I use MP3Tag for tagging as it is easily scriptable, and you can remove items like that quite easily and manipulate or adjust tags as you desire. It's also freeware, which is hard to complain about.

The number is simply the order of the tracks in the current track list/now playing list, it is not the track# (which as you noted, already has it's own column).

But there's no way to remove it?

Unfortunately, nope.

But really, it does not affect your files, and while it is annoying, you can learn to ignore it.

an applicable quote from the matrix:
...there's way too much information to decode the Matrix. You get used to it, though. Your brain does the translating. I don't even see the code. All I see is blonde, brunette, and redhead. Hey uh, you want a drink?

Hi Erik, I have the numbers at the beginning of the filename and have taken your advice and downloaded the mp3tag, but how do you get it to remove the beginning numbers please?

If you're trying to modify Filename you can use Tools > Auto-Organize Files in MediaMonkey. From the tag you may want to try: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28510&hilit=RegExp+Find+%26+Fix
