erratic sync to mapped network drive, skipped playlists etc

Post by nsurg »

I am running the newest version of MM with windows home server. My server's shared music folder is mapped to drive Y: with the \\homeserver\music directory being assigned as drive Y:, consistent with the forum and guide instructions for doing things. I have noticed some weird behavior that is driving me nuts, and can't find similar problems noted (hope I wasn't just searching for the wrong terms). I am trying to sync from my computer, where MM and all my files are stored, to the server's shared music folder.

Here's what I've seen after setting it up I think correctly:

1--when trying to sync ~80gb music and about 50 playlists to an empty destination for the first time, exactly no mp3 files are copied, and a few playlists are copied.
2--next I tried to sync only the music, and unchecked syncing all the playlists. This worked, and ~80gb of music copied just fine.
3--I then tried to sync with all the music files still checked, and added about 40-50 playlists, hoping that now the playlists would copy. Instead, about 8-10 playlists copied over. I have the destination folder set simply as \ since I want the playslists in the "root" directory of my mapped drive Y (where it is \\homeserver\music
4--I then tried to sync just the playlists, unchecking the music, and no mp3's were deleted but there was only this weird single broken playlist synced. Bizarre.

Anything obvious I might be missing here? Sorry I don't seem to get it.

It seems that left alone, the music syncs fine, but playlists are failing. I do have "device configuration>Copy playlists" checked, with only the submenu "library playlists" checked in the sync options.
