1348: Video thumbnails not generated when browsing video
When browsing video files without video thumbnails no thumbnails are generated. It only generates them when scanning videos in. This can cause problems if the user removes the thumbnail cache folder.
Tested on skinned 1348 on XP.

Where is the thumbnail cache folder located in windows7?

Tools > Options > General, in the Temporary Directory. Also make sure Generate thumbnails for videos is enabled under Tools > Options > Library.
I do have thumbnails when scanning in video files and downloading vodcasts, but when the temp folder is emptied the thumbnails don't regenerate like with audio files.

That explains it since everyday I delete my temp folder with Ccleaner.Lowlander wrote:Tools > Options > General, in the Temporary Directory. Also make sure Generate thumbnails for videos is enabled under Tools > Options > Library.
Would be nice if there was an option to move the thumbnail cache folder elsewhere.
After I clean install of build 1348 and a rescan I still don't have video thumbnails.Lowlander wrote: I do have thumbnails when scanning in video files and downloading vodcasts, but when the temp folder is emptied the thumbnails don't regenerate like with audio files.
But I guess that's because I kept my MM.db file and because I have "only for files with changed timestamp or size" checked in tools > options > library

Why not disable cleaning the folder by CCleaner then?Dreadlau wrote:That explains it since everyday I delete my temp folder with Ccleaner.

Rescanning video files with Only for files with changed timestamp or size does redo the video thumbnails.

But in that case that would change the location for all Mediamonkey's temp files. Not only the thumbnails.nohitter151 wrote:Or just change the location in the MM options.Lowlander wrote:Why not disable cleaning the folder by CCleaner then?Dreadlau wrote:That explains it since everyday I delete my temp folder with Ccleaner.

Is there a list of all the things that goes to the Mediamonkey's temporary directory?
That would help me decide if I should change the location like you suggested.

Thumbnails, UPnP streaming cache are things I've seen.

Re: 1348: Video thumbnails not generated when browsing video
When you auto-convert for devices, and when you rip CDs (as they are ripped to WAV > encoded to your ripping format > Moved to destination). Those files are automatically cleared though. Some scripts store log files there (I know lyricator does). Also UPnP tracks (auto-converstion) and UPnP album art is stored there.Dreadlau wrote: But in that case that would change the location for all Mediamonkey's temp files. Not only the thumbnails.

Re: 1348: Video thumbnails not generated when browsing video
Wow that's weird I just did a complete rescan of my library. ( with "only for files with changed timestamp or size" unchecked and "Generate thumbnails for videos" checked )
And no thumbnails have been generated!

Please try this again in build 1355. It includes significant improvements to the manner in which thumbnails are generated. (note: I've tested this, and can't replicated).

Hello.
Tried with build 1357.
And still no thumbnails after scanning the library.
Latest Codec Pack is installed. And the videos play in Mediamonkey.

Re: 1348: Video thumbnails not generated when browsing video
On 1357 I tested:
1) Turn off video thumbnail generation
2) Add folder with videos
3) View folder and no thumbnails (as expected)
4) Restart MediaMonkey (many AV's started popping up)
5) Enabled video thumbnail generation
6) Notice that status bar showed video thumbnail generation in progress
7) Navigated to video folder and saw some of the thumbnails
8 ) 1 thumbnail failed to show (the one being created as I entered the folder), but all other showed (including ones created after I opened the folder)
So it seems to work here except for the one quirk.
