Hyper linking custom fields

Post by Ticktock »

Just a thought that would add a hell of lot of functionality
to Media monkey that would hopefully not need a lot of programming to do
I am a musician and I have a large collection of tabs. Almost for every song that I have in Media Monkey about 6602 in midi format alone ,I have a tab for it.
At the moment I keep my tabs in a separate directory structure that is basically the same as my music collection
It is a pain in the butt having to keep searching for the tab when I wont to play a song that I can’t remember.
So I would like to suggest that one or two of the custom fields be hyper link enabled .
This would enable people like myself to add paths to the associated documents ,be it PDF's or text based tabs ,or even in my case Guitar pro tabs.
then one can just add the link and hey presto no more searching for the tab.
I was playing with some of the basic programming functions and I am sure it wont take myself or one of the other bright sparks long to come up with a panel that we can double click on and the contents of the custom fields are available to click on.Creating a quick jump to the file.

I also vote for hyperlink capability - for similar reasons. I have a large music library that has extensive related liner notes & additional artwork that are stored in PDF format. An opera or a classical music multi disc set may have liner notes that reach 200 pages. Popular music may also have extensive and interesting liner notes & artwork (such as Amiee Mann's "Lost in Space" special edition). Having the liner notes and additional artwork available adds a complementary educational component to the enjoyment of the music. At present I am having to maintain a parallel directory structure to locate the PDF information related to each album.

Hyperlicks would also be useful to link to music videos or related music DVDs.
