There's a very annoying bug in 1459. Column settings for the center browsing window in the Playlist node keep falling back to a very basic default.
I'm not sure when it started exactly, but in any case it's there in 1459.
I believe this bug was there before, in one of the beta versions.

Playlists use the layout set by the Collection they're related to. Change the layout in the Collection and the Playlist layout should be updated as well.

That's not the case. We have nice layouts for all collections, but the playlist node keeps falling back to a simple default:
- no upper browser window
- no illustrations, no summary
- just a few colums

Did you right-click the playlist(s) and set the "View as" field? What did you set it to? It should match the view of that collection.willyvds wrote:That's not the case. We have nice layouts for all collections, but the playlist node keeps falling back to a simple default:

Re: 1459: Column settings disappear
I wasn't aware of this option, so I haven't "set" it to anything. But somehow it changed a few days ago.
Anyway, now that I look at it I see what you mean. However the playlists do not show the colums that are in the collection-view that is refered to.
Particularly, the illustrations and summary colums are missing. I have to add them for every playlist, every time again.
And apart from that very obvious thing, there are all sorts of little differences (column selection and column width).
By the way: while clicking around the upper browser has come back, disappeared and came back. Don't know why.

Willy

Re: 1459: Column settings disappear
I think I have the same problem.
For example, I have my 'Now Playing' view for the main window set to show details, with the column order [Artist, Date, Album, Disk#, Track#, Title], but at least once a day the 'Album' column will disappear, and I'll have to re-enable it.
I want all my other views while browsing my location tree to be 'Show art with details', with another very specific column order, but this *always* changes back to the details view, and *sometimes* when I change it back to 'Show art with details' it will remember my column settings, and sometimes it won't be exact.
I leave Media Monkey running all day, and this bug occurs during the same session, when switching between my Now Playing and other views. Not always, but enough during each day to definitely be some sort of bug.
I suppose it could be noted that this is v4 build 1459, and that this problem never occurred during my 3.x usage.

Maybe a debug log helps as this isn't happening for me.

I could probably do that sometime today. I need the debug version of the executable for that though, right? Could you provide the link and quick instructions how to do this again (its been awhile for me).Lowlander wrote:Maybe a debug log helps as this isn't happening for me.

OK, I zipped up my database, and submitted the link where it can be downloaded from in my support ticket (#VKO-424958).rusty wrote:Also, useful would be if you could send a copy of your database with a description of exactly how to repro--it's located as described here:
