Playback Global Hotkeys all Play Now, or Require Permission

Post by nondescriptwhiteboy »

I am running Mediamonkey beta build 4.1.0.1672 on Windows 8 (desktop, not RT).

I ran Mediamonkey as an administrator, changed Play Next (Ctrl+Shift+Enter), Play Last (Ctrl+Enter), and Play Now (Alt+Enter) to global hotkeys, applied each, exited, restarted.

I am getting various odd behaviors when I try to employ various playback methods, depending on whether I am running in admin mode or not, and whether I am using right-click context menu or global hotkeys to employ the playback methods.

Here's the run-down:
Let's say the Now Playing list currently reads:
Song A
Song B
Song C
and Song B is playing.

I will now be performing operations on a Song D in a Windows Folder.

Not in admin mode:
MM starts normally, with no User Account Control window asking for permissions. Now Playing is currently showing for me.
In a Windows 8 folder, with a Song D selected, I do the following:
Keyboard Entry/Context Menu Click --- Result
  • Enter --- normal Play Now action: Song D begins playing immediately, rest of Now Playing list is cleared

Alt+Enter --- the file's properties come up in a new window (this is a standard Windows shortcut, not too worried that Mediamonkey is not overriding... mostly did this as a test), no effect on Now Playing list or what's playing in Mediamonkey.

Ctrl+Enter --- normal Play Now action (instead of Play Last action as desired)
(Additional note: occasionally if I perform this operation, and Mediamonkey is visible in the background, Now Playing list, for a split-second, will read:
    Song A
    Song B
    Song C
    Song A
    Song B
    Song C
then list will clear showing only Song D, and Song D will begin playback.

Ctrl+Shift+Enter --- normal Play Now action (instead of Play Next as desired)
(Additional note: occasionally when I perform this operation, Now Playing list, for a split-second, will read:
    Song A
    Song B
    Song B
    Song C
    --OR IT WILL READ--
    Song A
    Song A
    Song B
    Song B
    Song C
    Song C
and then in either case the list will clear showing only Song D and Song D begins playback.

Right-Click, Play in Mediamonkey --- normal Play Now action

Right-Click, Play next in Mediamonkey --- normal Play Next action

Right-Click, Play last in Mediamonkey --- normal Play Last action
In admin mode:
MM starts with User Account Control window asking for permissions. Hit OK.

Right-Click, Play next in Mediamonkey --- ~10 second delay, get the UAC window again, Hit OK, and THEN normal Play Next action

Right-Click, Play last in Mediamonkey --- ~10 second delay, get the UAC window again, Hit OK, and THEN, normal Play Last action
So, basically, the playback hotkeys don't seem to work in admin OR non-admin mode, and admin mode even adds a delay and UAC permission windows every time I try to add one or more files somewhere to the now playing list. Help!
