how to launch windows explorer folder?

Post by denisova »

Question: How to show a file in windows explorer, i.e. launch a windows explorer folder that contains the selected song/podcast, etc?

Is there a keyboard shortcut or a context-menu item that would accomplish that task?

Or must you click an icon for "Open Explorer folder" in the MM taskbar? There must be another way, right?

Thx in advance,

Nice!

And can your raise the R-click context menu with the keyboard, i.e. via a keyboard shortcut?

Or must you laboriously position the cursor over the item and R-click?

There are toolbar buttons for this (find more of the same) that make things a lot easier.
Just right click on a border/frame somewhere > toolbars > configure > configure and apply to wherever you want (horizontal/vertical)
[I think they default to one of the upper borders after applied, but can be moved]

Re a toolbar button for "Open Explorer Folder," I do have that icon positioned in the MM toolbar.

But… I have a strong preference for doing the task via keyboard. For me keyboard is very much faster than laboriously positioning the cursor over a toolbar button.

So I'm looking for a keyboard method to accomplish the task of opening the windows folder that contains the selected item. I do not see anything resembling 'open explorer folder' in the list of actions shown in tools > options > hotkeys.

BTW, pressing Shift+F10 produces no result for me. I'm using MMW Gold v4.1.7 (portable mode).

You need to select/highlight something first. It's a windows shortcut.

Many keyboards have a button that does the same as right-click built in. Also a shortcut to do so in windows is shift+f10. see http://lifehacker.com/243499/quick-wind ... ntext-menu

Re shift-F10: I'm running windows 8.1. I've just now learned that v8.1 uses ctrl-shift-F10 to raise the R-click context menu.

So... in win 8.1, to raise the relevant explorer folder in MM, here's the key sequence: ctrl-shift-F10, then press the F key followed by the E key.

Not so easy, but nevertheless nice to know about.

Thx nohitter151.

Thanks for the tip.

Somehow I had forgotten that several of my keyboards have a R-click key, which lies at the lower right of the keyboard, next to the Ins key.
