Duplicate Playlists after scanning

New to MM. Scanning my playlists directory creates the directory called "Imported Playlists" Fine so far.
However, once you interrogate the Imported Playlists, some of them have been added twice, some 3 times, whilst others just once. The duplicate playlists are ALWAYS empty. So, removing them, whilst an unnecessary pain, can "fix" the excessive entries.
The playlists are stored in a sub directory below my Music Directory. They were all created by Muisc Jukebox (which I have been using for several years now) and exported from there. The content of ALL Playlists are without fault (certainly in MJ) and are the results of vigorous error checking at source. In other words, I know what I'm doing with MJ, where they all work fine. However, MJ does not work as a UPnP, hence my foray into MM. I need this s/w to broadcast the contents of my music library to my Cambridge Audio CXNv2.
I did do some hunting on the internet prior to coming here but could not find a fix. Any ideas?

Which version of MediaMonkey and have you edited the Playlists in either software after they were first imported?

Playlists not amended in any shape or form. At the moment I'm not using MM as such, just using it for the UPnP aspect.

One thing that may be worth mentioning is that after noticing the duplicates ( and subsequent removal of) I emptied the Imported Playlists directory and re-scanned. The same playlists that appeared twice, reappeared twice. The same ones that appeared three times, re-appeared three times!

Then you may actually have duplicate files on your PC. Check what your MediaMonkey scanning scope is and do a search for *.m3u in File Explorer within that scope. Make sure any recycling bin isn't included as it may be picking up trashed copies.

OK - well done that man. You're correct, in that I found another location for a Playlists directory on the PC. I'm not entirey surprised, as I have moved things around since the current PC re-build. That included moving my Music directory's default location from C: to D:. I'm not entirely sure how the other playlist directory survived but it did. What I can't explain is that the selection criteria within MM was only looking in one file location. How did it find both?

By the way, the new scan is taking place in the background now, so I'll let you know what happens.

There are 2 scans, manual and Folder Monitoring with independent scan location settings and anytime you scan a location it doesn't get removed if it's no longer selected to be scanned.
