Issue with MMA Search [#16929][#17024]

Downloaded MMA to link with MMW(Gold). Mostly excellent. One issue I have is that search only lists titles. I can see the option to sort artist or album, but when i hit those nothing happens. Just blank screen. Is this a known bug or is it me? Thanks.

I can see that this issue was given urgent priority with an indication of major severity. However, 2 weeks on I cannot see from the issue details posted that anyone has been assigned to review and fix it. I would be grateful for an update. I agree that an inability to filter search by either artist or album is a major issue. Indeed, selling MMA without disclosing this basic defect is probably legally problematic. Please advise status at your earliest convenience... Thanks.

Hi,
Most likely it was not being addressed because we could not constantly replicate. I tested it today and could not replicate not being able to search, but it delayed results on selecting Albums/Artist. Further tests found out that if I click on Search Icon while selecting albums/Artist it shows me correct results immediately.

I update BUG with findings and assigned to developer.

Thanks for the update. A couple of observations in response:
I didn't indicate that search wasn't working. I advised that a simple search produced a listing of all tracks by an artist in a timely fashion, but that the program doesn't allow me to filter that search by either album or artist, although those fields are visible as options for filtering. It is not a matter of delay here. I have waited for 5 minutes with no results being returned. It should be easy to search for an artist, then to search for albums by that artist by hitting the relevant button. If you were able to do this, I would be grateful if you could advise how long is the supposed delay.

Have you tried my suggestion? eg. Select album and tap on search again then back to return to search results.

My library is 200k+ and ATM I tested with MM5. Also it should be noted that PC is on wired LAN and phone I test with is on WiFi ax/6 with 750Mbit connection and router is connected with 2Gbit(LACP 2x1Gbit on two ports) connection. Shortly said for me WiFi Sync for me is sometimes faster than USB 2.0 sync on 480Mbit.

In response to your question: Yes, I have tried your suggestion. The result is that the search field blanks out and no results are ever produced. I am not using MM5. I am using the most recent version of MM4. However, I don't think this is relevant because search shows all tracks almost immediately. The issue is sorting that result into albums. If you have been able to do that, please advise. If there is a delay, please advise length of delay.

I am happy to hear about your experiences when syncing via wifi. However, my enquiry is not about wi-fi sync. speeds. It's about the search function in upnp mode.

OK, Here is what we will do then. We will send two/three logs back to us so that we can see what MMA and MMW are giving to you.
Regarding MMW:
1. Make sure that you have DBGView ready according to https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=26&t=69 to fetch MMW log during Search and fetching MMA logs
2. After you started DBGView and then started MMW knowing that logs are filling with data start MMA
3. enter UPnP MMA and use ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send Logs (WRITE LOG ID Before sending so that we can track it here)
4. Start search for tracks and after they show use ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send Logs (Do not forget to WRITE THAT LOG ID)
5. Switch to Albums and after they do not show for 30s use ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send Logs (Do not forget to WRITE THAT LOG ID)
6. Switch to Artists and after they do not show for 30s use ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send Logs (Do not forget to WRITE THAT LOG ID)
7. Close MMW, Sve Log in DBGView
8. Write me down all previously LOG ids, Upload MMW log and send me DL URL to PM or to pavle mediamonkey com

That should give us enough info on what is going on.

Please ensure taht you use latest MMA beta version.

Hi,
Got the logs, filed them in bug and noticed Developer assigned for fixing.

Please note that MMW debug log was incomplete eg. like DBGview was not started prior to starting MMW as there was missing some MMW startup and initialization information.

NOTE: Please do not delete MMW debug log for now till Developer have time to analyze it.

The search feature is shitty. I have recordings with date and number codes. It can't find "1234" if the number is DR0001234.

I keep running into roadblocks for just about any media device. I can't use it for logging and reference my recordings which is all I want to do. I make notes for a good part and need to find it.


Fix the search. Even with advanced search, it can't find it.
