Can't get tagger to work

Post by frankenpod »

I can't get the automatic lookup of cd tracks to work. I have it set under options to use MusicBrainz, but whenever I try to look up a CD it gives an error:

There was an error while connecting to musicbrainz.org: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

I also can't get the 'tagger' for already-ripped tracks to work. It insists on starting up Internet Explorer (!), then asks me to log into discogs (which I do) then I 'authorise' MM to access my discogs account. But it doesn't do anything, the next time I try it goes through the same process again. (And how do I tell it I don't use IE, by the way? I can't see an option to tell it to use a different browser)

Yes, MediaMonkey 4 relies on Internet Explorer. This is no longer a problem with MediaMonkey 5: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 86639&sd=d

For Discogs Tagger problems use this forum thread instead: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... =2&t=19168

Does the FreeDB (hosted by MediaMonkey) option work? I don't have issues with MusicBrainz in MediaMonkey 4 or 5. You may have a problem letting MediaMonkey connect to the internet. Does the Web node in the Media Tree work?

Thanks. I don't know how to fill in the options for using FreeDB - what to put for server name, user name, user domain. If I leave the defaults it just says it can't find the cd in the database (for any cd I try)

Select Protocol: Freeddb (HTTP) and all should be set correctly. Server name should say: mb.mediamonkey.com no username user domain needed.

OK, seem to have the discogs tagging working now (I think was doing the 'authorisation' and pressing 'OK' in the wrong order before)

OK, for some reason it didn't have those values as the defaults (something else, with "US" in it, can't remember what it was now) I changed it to those values and now it (the musicbrainz tagger) is working. Thanks very much for your help.
