Why don't you use an external player? There's a bunch of good small players you can use to play your files. Once installed, disable the file assotiations in MediaMonkey (Tools->Options->General->File Types) and your player will pop-up instead of MediaMonkey.

It will not remove any MediaMonkey functionality.

There should be something improved in UI (I hope even in 2.5), this is allready asked and it is on ToDo list as I know.

I am not sure if anyone brought this up. I tried to search but did not find any viable results.

It'd be nice to allow the MediaPlayer in MediaMonkey invoke independently from the main application. I have my mp3 associated with MediaMonkey and its a pain having the whole app pop up when I am just playing a song.
