So, since this post is still active, I'll add my experience. I too have a huge library ~24,000 songs with a 160 gb. After searching forum after forum, I found one that inferred the errors were due to corrupt files. A program called CDCheck was recommended. It's available with a 30-day trial period. I downloaded it and there's 5.5 hours left of a 101 hour scan hash check of every file. It says it's scanning 59,000 files, which means a lot of duplicates were created. I'm optimistic this will work because thus far it found 41 errors, 1,412 warnings, and 47 "other". I'm not sure what each means just yet, but it will allow me to export as a CSV when I'm done where I hope it gives me some more info. I'm wondering if the hangs/crash comes about when MM tries to sync one of these files.
