I was trying to rip the new Beatles collection.
Started with Sgt. Pepper - received an error on track 13 (the last track) - said there were 6 errors. OK - so I re-ripped; got same error. Used Exact Audio Copy and it reported no errors.
Tried Hard Day's Night. Guess what - error on track 13 (I'll Be Back). The song is truncated at about the 25 sec mark. If I try to play that track through MMG it stops at the same spot. Track 13 is the last track on this disc too.
Windows Media Player plays this track without difficulty.
I am using MMG 3.2.0.1294.

Re: Rip error on track 13 two different albums
you ripping to wav or to another format?
try wav it does not take much to rip to wav but if you rip to another format you might be overworking your cpu or your memory caches which could be causing the stopping of the songs.
i've been ripping to wav and converting to the other formats and don't seem too many problems with monkey just a error now and then when i get a extra content cd that has hidden audio tracks or a video player on the cdrom to play a video of one of the songs on it.. then monkey sees that file as a track but crashes when it is found not to be a audio track.
so far on this new monkey i have not had the crashs cause of that.

This is a Win 7 Pro system. Quad core Q6600, 4 Gb, local SATA storage. The system is nearly idling during the rip. I am ripping to 192kbps MP3.
I think the common item here is the track is the last track on the disk. The new Beatles reissues are also enhanced CDs - so there are other files on the disk.

OK - thanks for the post.
Re: Rip error on track 13 two different albums
Many, many thanks for this topic.
I started ripping my CD-collection to my recently acquired Cowon S9. 3 CD's had rip-errors, 1 clearly through damage to the surface (the carpets in a car are not a good place for a CD to be when You've done a lot of walking through Mother Nature). This one I had polished, which made it perfectly usable again. The others both had 6 errors in the last track, and no noticable scratches to the surface, both had been used once or twice.
I then replaced a lot of my old LP's and records with CD's, and all 4 CD's from Andreas Vollenweider had 6 errors in the last track. Well, if the laws of statistics were that warped in my vicinity, I could make a fortune in a casino, either as a player, or as the guy that goes to stand close to a large winner hoping to jinx his winning streak.
Some Googling led me to this topic, and I realized that I never tried to use my other drive in my system, not thinking that this might be a hardware-related issue, and presto, while my PLEXSTOR DVDR PX-8105A consistently had rip-errors in enhanced CD's, my SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615S ripped all tracks effortless.
I'd still like to know the technical background of the problem.
