I keep having to restart MM (soundcard issue)

Post by statik »

...this might be a problem I had with v2 too, but I'm not 100% sure of that. The deal is, MM is working just fine, plays everything without a glitch. BUT when I pause it or stop it for a minute or more maybe, it stops completely and won't play any tracks. No error message, the program doesn't hang or anything, it just won't play anything.
So I quit MM, start it again, everything works just fine, until I stop it the next time.

I don't have this problem with any other players, and there's nothing special with my setup. Also it doesn't matter what tracks I play, this happens every time.
has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone have any bright ideas?

so it seems like monkey is just muting and continues on playing the song till finished, then stops completely. and won't allow you to restart any song?

what version and what os i never had that trouble since mm2.2 or so? it back then was something to do with more then one instance of mm and using wma files.

but wma has been changed since that time and mm 2.5 does not do this for me.

you might check your hardware it might be a conflict with something or with another software program.? go to windows update online and get your system updated. what ever system you have??

Nope, it doesn't mute, it just doesn't play. The equaliser and everything stands completely still, but I can access all the menus and click all the buttons, so it doesn't hang.

I'm using the latest RC on Vista x64 (w SP1, but I've had the problem the entire time), playing through an Edirol FA-66 Firewire soundcard. 5600+ CPU and 4GB of ram...

Very interesting, have you tried to change output plugin settings?

EDIT: Why didn't you say it is ASIO Compatible sound card :) Just kidding.
Could you try to use ASIO output plugin? It is known that professional cards (even slightly non-commercial cards) have problems due to hardware architecture and ...
We have noticed that and found that in most cases This FAQ works

Ah, we may be on to something.
But: I tried DLing the x64 version of the plugin (assuming that's the one I need), and it seems to load OK, but once I click play it goes bananas! Just fast-forwards through the track and stops responding to commands. I get audio, but it plays through a 8minute track in 10 seconds, so it's useless ;)

Tried all the settings aswell, no luck. And my Japanese is rubbish, so I can't troubleshoot much ;)

Any other ideas, or tips? :)

Can you try this on XP or x86/x32 Vista Version?

Ah, I take it back. Tried the x86 version, and that seems to work fine! I guess since MM doesn't have native x64 support, it can use x64 plugins either. Makes sense really.

So far so good, thanks for all your help :)

Not sure what exactly you are referring to but compatibility issue could be the problem, as MM work on Both x86 and x64 without problems.

Anyway I'm glad it works now.

Yeah, but the x64 version of the ASIOout-plugin doesn't work with MM; probably because MM is a x86 application.

Anywho, it works, so thatnks again :)
