Any comments on this issue? I tried a few other players and the adding of files across the network seems to be orders of magnitude better :(

Issue that I'm seeing is related to speed. If I try to create a library from imported files that are located on another PC on my network, then each file that is added to the MM library takes 1-3s each to import. If I do a bulk tag edit on a suite of files, again each file takes 2-4s to update in terms of tags.

Both of the actions above done on local files are super fast...

Both of the actions above done on other media players seem to fun alot faster

In terms of data transfers on my network I can hit transfers of 300M+ (for large files) and 15M (for smaller files)

Sounds like reasonable speeds to me. Are you sure that other media players are actually modifying the tracks when you edit them over the network?

I think the modification for any file is prob in the order of 1s, perhaps MM makes it appear faster but ends up spawning a background task to actually do the work on the files (but the library is updated)

What about the import of files from this remote location to MM's library, should it take that long per track? A large collection will take hours instead of minutes....

I assume that it would take fairly long as each file needs to be read to extract the tags. This means that quite some bandwidth is occupied for this operation.

I speak mostly out of a feel experience not any scientific measuring of how different applications measure up in speed.

Also make sure that you don't have additional features like scan for duplicates or volume analyze for unknown level as these operations will take longer.
