great script, really adds to the mm experience, thanks.

just a couple of notes..

I've noticed that to resize the window, I have to exit and relaunch mm, am I missing something?
also is it possible to sort via album name or artist..... at the moment it seems to just be album artist, again have I missed something?

Thanks
Colin
MonkeyFlow should resize when the docking panel is resized. If you turn fullscreen on/off, does it resize properly inside the docking panel?
Hi,
This appears to be a Vista problem.. fine on XP.
I run as administrator and also have the com server error.
Turn on fullscreen ok, but when try to switch back its hangs with a red screen. ctrl-alt-del resets screen and returns to mm ok, once!
if try full screen again, then hang, ctrl-alt-del will again reset....

On a similar note, perhaps - when I start mediamonkey intially, the monkeyflow window is blank. I have to shut down (and it takes a few seconds, with the progress bar stating "shutting down monkeyflow"), then restart mediamonkey. On restart, the initialising monkeyflow appears, and it works ok.

Any ideas why I have to do this to get it to work? Thanks !

Interesting. Can you try a few more things for me? After the embedded version has started and the memory is climbing, close the MonkeyFlow docking panel. Does the memory continue to increase or does it stay the same?

Also, in your Task Manager, click View -> Select Columns from the menu. Then check the following items:
  • Handle Count
  • Thread Count
  • GDI Objects
Does the value of any of these columns increase with the memory?

Thanks for helping me with this.

When I close the docked MonkeyFlow window, the memory stops climbing, but the winviz process sticks around and holds onto the memory.

Handles stops climbing at 241 and hover around 240.
Threads stops climbing at 12 and stays there.
GDI Objects stops climbing at 42 and stays there.

All three of those items stay constant (give or take one or 2) even as the memory usage keeps climbing.

I'm using Vista and the most recent version of MM and Monkeyflow and my library contrains about 35,000 songs.

For some reason nothing is showing up in the Monkeyflow window and it doesn't seem to be caching anything.

Thanks!

Hey,

Just a word to say that your script looks great but unfortunately not customizable (or I didn't find how) : for example, the ambient light looks too dark for me, I wanna change the number of covers diplayed on screen etc.. Would it be possible ?

Cheers,

Jeremy

Thank you very much, this is an even better than the itunes original..

I run Vista (2GB RAM, quad-core) with about 8000 songs all with art and don't have any memory/cache problems. :D

Just wanted to say "Great Script". I've been watching the development of your code since you first released it. Got busy and haven't been around MM forums lately. Was surprised to now see an embedded pane option, really slick! With 36,000 songs and 9,000 albums the response is really good (only slight delay when program first starts). This should be part of the core of MM! Keep up the great work.

awesome application.

Finally got this to work....for some reason I had to go into the monkeyflow.exe file properties and change the compatibilites to Windows XP Sp 2....even though I'm using Vista.

Anyways maybe this will help some people still having trouble getting it to work.

Cheers.

Hey flashk, love the script..... BUT......

Ohhh why oh why for the love of mike does Monkeyflow have to create a new temp folder for its python compiling, man this is creating a living hell with HIPs control.
Every time MM is launched and MFlow the winviz.exe needs fresh sets of clearance rules due to the new folder structure.

Is there any way around this, the script is awesome. The resulting firewall / HIPs requests are not :)

But otherwise all good and thanks for the script :)

Hi flashk,

New Feature Request - Automatic Browse Function

This is one of the best improvements to MM. I love having the option to browse all albums while listening to music or performing any other activity. However, it would be nice if you could add an "Automatic Browse Function." For example, set a criteria of time for each album to remain stationary in the main view. For me, I would assign three seconds and then move to the next cover. This way, during parties I can have the cover art automatically flowing and if an album pops up that one of my guests is interested in, we can play it. It makes for a great visualization.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Respectfully,

Roupp

I have Xp, sp2 and running as admin. Can't get the art or buttons to display, as in the image others have posted - just white sqaures. Running Intel Integrated Q35 Chipset with latest drivers on a HP desktop. Doesn't create Monkeyflow.log anywhere!! Any ideas? Cheers Jim

PS Nothing at all displays in the integrated pane, have to run the stand-alone monkeyflow.exe and this shows the whitesquares. 22,000 songs, not small but not excessive? Also, monkeyflow_cache folder is created with all correct artwork in it, but no monkeyflow.log anywhere.

C:\Documents and Settings\[my id]\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.ini has no reference to MonkeyFlow anywhere.

Edit: Winviz dwelling with about 50% cpu use and 33K of mem use:

I just released a new version of MonkeyFlow. A list of fixes/features is below. Enjoy and happy new year!
  • Fixed bug where embedded window would not resize or shutdown properly
  • Reduced CPU usage when idle
  • Mouse wheel properly scrolls other MM windows when MonkeyFlow has focus
  • Albums not in active filter will not be displayed
  • Added options to sort covers by album name, turn off anti-aliasing, and enable verbose log (available in context menu)
  • MonkeyFlow executable extracts files to same folder
