i have been using zen micro for a long time now.
and just recently in march it worked but now it doesn't ? well neither does the philips that was bought to replace it.
but they do work.
1. loading songs on to the zen use to work nice and i was even able to move them back off the zen to the computer.
2. now some time since march or eariler since i just got updates on the computer. monkey no longer lets me play the songs on the zen or move them off the zen and it does the same with the philips.
3. in the way they are still woking is that monkey 2 and 3 will still load songs from the auto sync. but neither no longer sees drag and drop hand helds as add on drives in the my computer tree.
so it is either the updates from microsoft that have changed the drag and drop feature or something in monkey has changed but since it is working the same way in mm 2 as in mm 3 i am laying my bet on it being microsoft's fault.
and since i have seen current issues posted in the forum with browsers i am also betting that is something doing with the fact they are now using ie 8, and got rid of ie 7, i say that because you download critical updates and you get ie 8 if you don't have it. so its now the dog of choice. but at what cost do the third party apps that were trying to use browsers in them.
seems they are trying to make everyone go to the codes for windows 7
maybe they know something we dont? like the fact i got a virus removed from the computers dot net system today.
so how did that get in the safest system they said there was? is that inducating dot net is bad and that means visat and xp are big open door os's? not sure but them messing with the drag and drop codes makes it hard to replace any songs you loose from your system on the computer.
of which i have also happen for some strange reason? songs just dissappeard on my back up computer
but i was lucky eough to have them on my other computer and backed up cdroms still having to back up the back up computer is well strange to think about it. i use the back up computer to load the hand helds because the jukebox is too slow to use and this one is not to have all the songs on it. the back up one is the only one that has room to add new songs and convert to wma with, and is faster then the jukebox. the lenovo one is not useful for any music cause it has less on it then this dell.
so i'm just wondering what is causing the loss of songs. do you think it is from monkey or do you think maybe it is windows again doing a removal of files that have been in there for a set time limit and not been used in that limit.
i'm not sure but i think it is winodows removing them. so i have set my jukebox script to automaticly add a play count to the songs every week so they are seen as being used.
i hope that count is getting added to the tag or the database and marking the file some how?
if not then is there some way you can make monkey on a set time limit open the file and close it just to make it have a marked last opened time recent enough to keep windows from removing the songs.
the songs not playing or being removable from the hand helds really po's me but not as much as the songs being removed. (mm2 and mm 3) both seem to have the trouble which is why i think it is windows.
cause you have not done anything with mm 2 in a long time.
and mm 2 on my jukebox is on 98 and that seems to be fine it is not connected to online and has not been in over two years. so it is not being messed with by m$ anymore.
but the mm 2 on these other computers is on xp pro and all are connected to the internet? well the back up one now after the update can't dial out anymore. i wonder if that was done by m$ since i got all my songs on it..
dang just when i was going good in adding songs and keeping the systems working m$ jacked with stuff now i got to figure out work arounds again.
anyone out there besides me with the above troubles if you find a work around post it and i'll post mine cause i'm not a programmer and have a harda.. time finding workarounds.
thank you all for putting up with my rant about all the stuff that just showed up this week. ? i think i'm going to go back and re tweak the snot out of my systems again. they seem to work better that way.
