Re: 1256 Track Browser missing for Now Playing node --------
Are you sure this isn't due to your particular skinning? Are you able to distinguish other disabled items in the interface (normally greyed out)?
I tried both the Glided and skinless and on both it shows disabled on XP SP3 and 1256.

Re: 1256 Track Browser missing for Now Playing node --------
I saw your note for moving this post Lowlander, but I actually do think this is a bug.
1) There's really no reason why Track browser should be disabled for Now Playing and
2) Even if there is some technical reason why they can't enable this view for NP, it should at least be disabled.

Re: 1256 Track Browser missing for Now Playing node --------
I've already provided a reason why the Track Browser should not be enabled for the Now Playing node.nohitter151 wrote:I saw your note for moving this post Lowlander, but I actually do think this is a bug.
1) There's really no reason why Track browser should be disabled for Now Playing and
What does the Track Browser do? It filters the current view. You click on an artist, and you're then presented with a subset of what was in that window, the subset only contain tracks by that artist. Enabling the Track Browser on the Now Playing node would filter it, which then defeats the main purpose of the node, which is the show the order in which tracks will play, given Shuffle is not on.Mizery_Made wrote:Album Art is disabled here in 1256, while Album Art with Details is not. This is because the Album Art view groups the tracks under the album artwork thumbnail and as a result, doesn't indicate a play order. Meanwhile, the Album Art with Details view is still enabled, because it still shows the tracks, and thus indicates the playorder (which is pretty much the main function of the Now Playing node)
This concept is also why I believe filtering this node is disabled.
If you'll notice, setting the search bar to "Current Selection" and then searching in a Library node will filter that nodes contents down to only those tracks which match your search, much like the Track Browser does. However, if you use "Current Selection" on the Now Playing node, there is no filtering, and instead the search acts like a search in a Web Browser and takes you to the first match it finds. Clicking enter or hitting the search button will perform the search again, finding the next match and so on. That's because filtering the Now Playing node, as stated, would defeat one of it's main purpose.

You're right Miz, you seem to have thought this out much more thoroughly than I did. I still think that the button should be disabled, so here it is: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=5792

Re: 1256 Track Browser missing for Now Playing node --------
Maybe, maybe not. Clicking the button while on the Now Playing node has a "global" effect. While it's never displayed on the Now Playing node, clicking it on or off is preserved when you go back to a library node. You might relate it to the Continuous or Shuffle buttons. Sure, they effect the play order or how many times the tracks in the Now Playing node/window are played. However, when the node/window is empty and there's nothing in the player, nothing is being shuffled or continuously played, so should these buttons be disabled, and then only re-enabled once something is added to the Now Playing list or played? No, because these two options will effect how things are handled when you go back to using what the settings are relevant to (playing tracks, and in the case of the Browser, using the Library nodes)

2) Anyone who doesn't want Track Browser on Now Playing could simply turn it off.
3) The current failure of TB to show on Now Playing obstructs its use on NP for other purposes e.g. playlist composition.
Note also that the current failure of TB to show on Now Playing is inconsistent with the fact it shows on playlists.

I suggest you raise the Track Browser being available for the Now Playing as a separate topic in the wishlist forum.
PS. Album Art view = Show Album Art not the Album Art window

Thanks for the suggestion, but in the absense of evidence to the contrary, I'll consider it a bug.

He's been talking about the same thing the entire time, Chris. You're the one that's been unable to comprehend what he's talking about, hence his attempt to clarify for you. I agree with Lowlander too, Wish, not Bug.

No he has not Miz. His message originally said Album Art, and he recently edited it to say Show Album Art. These are two different commands on the View menu.

And the Track Browser is not a bug, it's not a failure of the program, it's a missing feature and thus a wish. And although I also find it logical that it isn't available I see no issue of why it can't be made available in the Now Playing node.

Re: 1256 Track Browser missing for Now Playing node BUG#5792
Mantis Bug#3198 touches on the subject of filtering the Now Playing node, when it was brought up for "Search: Current Selection." Again, I find that the exclusion of filtering on search in this node supports the exclusion of the Track Browser.

That's reporting a different issue. Fine, but that issue number should not have been put in the OP subject and I have removed it.
