plays in random order

Post by global sounds »

In the last couple of weeks MM 3.10.1256 [gold] has developed a couple of bugs. Firstly when a folder is opened and all the files are selected, MM plays them in random order, shuffle has been deselected. This happens both from a separate music folder and from within the MM library.

Secondly, if I select a specific number of tracks to play, 3 or 4 additional tracks, randomly from within the library, also come up in the now playing window and will play in turn. So therefore if I select 12 tracks from an album, those 12 plus an additional 3 or 4 random tracks actually play.

Any ideas.

System : Vista SP2 32bit
Acer Aspire 8730
Intel 2 duo 2GHz
RAM 3gb
Playback through stereo amp and speakers.

Thank you. Yes, someone [Zoe aged 12] did. It's off now and the random extra tracks have stopped. Still need to find out how to stop the non-sequential play of music folders.

I'm having the same issue where when I select a number of tracks in windows explorer they will end up in the play list randomly. I made sure that auto-dj is disabled as well as shuffle.. Any more ideas?

Windows Explorer sometimes passes Selection in way it is selected along with focus track first so maybe that is what you experience.

It started happening once I upgraded to 3.1. For example, if I select say 5 songs in explorer right click the first song on the list, the play list in MM will be completely random including the song that I had right clicked on and should have been focused for first play. I can right click those same 5 songs repeatedly and every time the playlist ends up in a different order. I have this issue on both XP and Vista and it continued after downgrading back to 3.0. I haven't had a chance to try on a fresh windows install to troubleshoot it down further but it's very frustrating.

I have the same issue with tracks selected in Windows Explorer (Vista) playing in shuffle mode since upgrading to 3.1. Also, if I click on "Album" in the navigation tree of MM, it lists albums together but not with the tracks in the correct order, unlike how it used to be. Nothing on my computer has changed but the updated MediaMonkey, and there are no options I've seen to change this behavior.

I have the same problem as Global Sounds. I tried Pavle's solution, but it all seems normal to me: I went to Tools -> Options -> Player -> Double Click Actions, and it says, "When playing is stopped: Play Now. When tracks are playing: Play Now. Play now action: Clear Tracks & Play Selected + Subsequent". And I have also tried every option beneath the three menus under Double Click Options. What am I overlooking? (I have Vista.)

This suddenly started happening on my XP machine. I have had the Auto-DJ enabled (I like that), but suddenly the player is randomly skipping around in the Now Playing list.

EDIT: Nevermind. Think I fixed it... Somehow Shuffle Mode had been turned on...

I'm getting this from adding tracks from the explorer. Is there a fix or a work around? Another thread I saw suggested it was a Windows 7 issue but I have tried with Foobar and this problem doesn't happen. :-?

i've got issues with the shuffle being turned on.

so turn that off and see if it fixes your random song picking in the now playing list.

I just migrated from XP to Windows 7 64-bit and had a similar problem: tracks selected in Windows Explorer were played out of order in MediaMonkey. The problem went away when I used the right mouse button to run MediaMonkey as administrator. Not knowing if the program would always be run as administrator after that (for instance, when the program is closed and I select a song from Windows Explorer), I went into regedit and changed the MediaMonkey's permissions to "users" and checked "allow" for full control. The problem seems fixed, though it has not been all that long since I made the changes......
