CD Drive becomes unresponsive

Post by RSP_Cincinnati »

I have seen the same, and not just on MM. I fear it is the result of poor CDR driver code's failure to handle an error.

I guess the solution in that case is to update your CD drive firmware?

Actually, I am experiencing the same issue. I just installed MediaMonkey 3.1.1.1261 on a new Dell with Vista 64-bit. (I have been using MM on my older XP machine for several months with no problems.) Whenever I run MM my dvd/cd drive becomes unresponsive. After MM has been run, I can not access the drive through MM, Vista or any other program. This only happens after I start MM. The problem does not go away when I quit MM. I have to reboot to get the drive working again. I can access the drive fine through WMP11. The only software I have on the machine is the Vista premium, Dell crap, Norton, Office 2007 and Zune. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated?

skohlmey try going to the beta test forum to the 3.1 test release thread by rusty, go to the last post in that thread and get the latest beta test version i think it might fix it. but it is also a test version so be aware of that
if you don't want to test then just wait for the next stable release. :)

Let's see-did you tell us what drive you have and the Operating System? Very important info.
Does the drive read any discs at all? If not then:
If the drive has been used a lot, there is a real possibility that it has died and needs replaced. You can test this if youhave a spare CD/DVD drive available. Device Manager appears to have no Yellow exclamation signs for the drive-does it tell you what drive it is? If the machine is one of those with a curved front on the drive-that poses an issue in finding a replacement. good luck
