Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
Hi i dont know about you guys but lately i just keep getting problems with mm ripper these issues have been mentioned before here on the forum by other people but it doesnt look like they get resolved (im not blaming the devs) just saying because It is just frustrating to rip cds and then listen to them later and notice that they werent properly ripped, i know about secure rippers like EAC and dbpoweramp but i just like the idea of doing everything in one program, like itunes or windows media player for example. The program i choose to do that is mediamonkey, unfortunately the ripping is not on par with other programs. The problems i experience with mm when i rip cds are some tracks wont rip properly... for example mm rips track 1 correctly then it will rip from the middle of track 2 and continue over to track 3, when playing back those tracks i will hear track 1 correctly when it is finished track 2 just starts from the middle and plays the minute or 2 that was ripped and track 3 starts but i still "think" its track 2. I have tried different methods with jitter correction on and jitter correction off, also this is a random thing it doesnt do it with the same cd. The other issue i have is with enhanced cds, cds which have a 2nd session added to it with data (extra features) not copy protected ones but i guess they would also do the same, the problem that i experience is with the last track of the audio session. Mm starts giving errors right towards the end of the track, these errors can be heard when played back, the song starts to fade and then mm skips a few miliseconds back. I have tried the same cds with different rippers and i dont get these same problems that i get with mm. I dont know if its my drive that mm doesnt like or what the issue is... as far as i can remember mm always worked well with ripping cds but from version 3.1 onwards its just been giving problems... i really hope this issued can be resolved because i do want to use mm to do all my tasks when it comes to my music.
My pc specs are windows 7, 4gigs of ram, quad core, samsung dvd writer TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203B, mm 3.1.2.1283
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
Sergio

nice complaint but one missing part of info?
what format are you trying to rip too. it could be that format's codec in need of up dating? if you are not ripping to a wav file..

Re: Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
Hi,
I am in the same situation, with MM not ripping audio cds correctly. After doing some researches, I found a workaround : on the cd/dvd device window, I had to uncheck "on the fly encoding", et voila.
I rip my audio cds in mp3 (320kbs, stereo) with the lame_enc.dll bundled with mm.
My configuration : windows 7 64 bits, 4gigs of ram, quad core, HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H44N ATA Device, MM 3.1.2.1277
I did tests with the same hardware configuration and the same version of mm BUT with windows Vista 32 bits, and I had no problems ripping audio cds with the "on the fly encoding" option enabled.
Maybe it has something to do with windows 7 or the 64 bits thing ?

Are you sure that isn't just having "Crossfade" enabled? (disable under the "Play" menu)robojock wrote:Hi emt96

Re: Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
yes nohitter151 i am sure... it has to do with the ripping.
its like this track 1 rips ok, track 2 rips ok, track 3 (which is supposed to be track 3 isn't) its "part" of track 2 and part of track 3

That's a pretty serious problem then. You should send a track to the MM support team.robojock wrote:yes nohitter151 i am sure... it has to do with the ripping.

Re: Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
I just ripped another CD today, and as you, no luck. Track 2 is not the real track 2, but part of track 1. I noticed that the duration of the track was exactly the duration of the last track 2 ripped five minutes ago.robojock wrote:Hi emt96

Very strange thing I think.

Re: Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
Why do you expect MM to have the features of the best rippers on the market? dbPowerAmp costs more per year than MM does to purchase. A good deal of the cost is spent on licenses so you have the best encoders the best tag info data. How can an MM provide those services when it sells so cheaply. They would need to charge a yearly fee to use those paid for services. You all are a bunch of crybabies! If you want top of the line use them, I do. I like the pricing of MM the way it is.
Re: Not happy with mm way of ripping cds
I posted before reading the last few posts. Obviously, MM has some real problems that they need to fix but but do not complain that your Probe in not as fast and not as nice as a BMW.
