i just found the trouble with this white square. and the reason i said it was fixed to you rusty when you sent me that one update.

here is the cause.

1. you have another mm 2 converted skin in your system or other skin that is missing the updated codes from when the skin was first authored.

2. this will cause the white square to show up in the skin. it will also cause the nc area image to be put in the same location as the white square that is out of place when you switch to your other skins.

cause. skin author didn't know to put the code and images in or did not re compile in the newer version of the skinning theme engine after improvements were made to the theme engine, which then caused the skin to have proper code.
so not doing that recompile caused the trouble.

how do i know this now after all this time simple this is a new computer i never had any skins in it other then mine or the default downloaded skins. this square error never showed.

i downloaded and installed a skin that was converted from mm 2. to mm 3 and installed it on this computer. the white square instantly showed up. i switched to one of my skins to see if it was only on the skin i just installed. but it was in fact affecting my skin which was not showing the error before i installed this (new to this system) skin which was an converted skin.

i checked some other skins i did not use the mm 2 templete to make for mm 3 and the error was showing up there too.

so one badly coded skin will mess up them all.

and since i had fixed all my skins when you sent sent me that update rusty so the error did not show up.

For me occurs every time MM starts in show album art with details (using glided skin).
Easy way to clear it is to change to another display option then back.

Edit
Playing with the default skins seams to have fixed it for me.
Good for me if true, not so good for who ever is trying to fix it.

Edit2
Fault occurs consistently again after system restart. Suggests a variable is not initialized.

Mantis suggests this is fixed in 1274 http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6040
But it still occurs for me with 3.2.1.1297 on windows 7 32bit with Glided skin.

The white square, instead of being drawn at the bottom right corner (scroll bar intersection) is being drawn 80% down the vertical scroll bar in both the "album art with detail" and tree node windows.

rovingcowboy thank you for the PM reiterating the solution you have found to the white square problem.

In my case I have done a fresh install of Media Monkey and installed no extra skins, but have used the default "Glided" skin.
In appears to be this skin which has the problem.
I do not know who wrote it or where to get an updated version.
If this indeed is where the bug is then perhaps a later release of media monkey could include an updated Glided skin or remove it completely (although I like it as it appears to conform to the windows 7 appearance).

did not want to mention that as a possible skin with the error in it my self. as i did not do a clean install with only that skin. when i do a clean install i auto move the the skins folder from my backup folder before i ever start monkey up. so i could not say if it had the trouble or not.

morten did that skin, morten has not answered my pm to him last month. and he seems to have closed his web sites down?
not sure but he might have gradu...ed from college and got a job now, which would mean he can't use the college computer network to get online. or he has not got time to get online anymore and do things he use to do.

but maybe rusty can contact him.?
