1343 : a few "art browser" bugs / suggestions [#7554]

Post by vpsaxman »

As noted in this post http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=54506 1343 still has blurry font problems both under the cover art and inside of it when AA is missing. Art browser text shouldn't be resized on window resize.

Also, it uses thumbnails and resizes them instead of using available higher size / resolution images resulting in blurry cover art images.

Would it be possible to implement options accessible through the option menu such as background color, size of AA, spacing etc. like an extension for MM used to have?

no fonts should not be resized that way in that window.
but it sounds like the error they have in mm 3 for some scripts where the fonts are messed up and change with the
resize of the script window. maybe it just transfered to this browser now.?
:-?
edited in. ( i just re read your post and see you are wondering about the images in the new feature. the following still is what i think might be going on, but only if they use that cache for that program feature.? )i presume you are talking about the album art thumbnails in the album art view.
i think that might be due to monkey saving smaller versions of the album art in a folder cache to load
them faster in the album art view, there is a line in the mediamonkey ini file that allows you to turn off the cache for
the album art. did you try that and see if it worked? its in the ini file you find in your documents and settings folders in xp.
and its a hidden file.

:o

not sure what your talking about unless you mean the options settings for the old plugin of monkeyflow. if that is what your
are talking about then i believe they might be working on it for that new feature in mediamonkey 4, but might not have got
it working to their likes yet.
of course they might totaly have forgot about it and or just said stick it with that option.
but i cant see rusty and jiri doing that.

1) I don't see blurry fonts.

2) I don't see blurry cover arts when making Album Art Browser window bigger.

I get the same - blurry font and small thumbnails. All my album art is 800x800 jpeg saved to the files' tag.

Problem of the OpenGL is that it doesn't support unicode text drawing so only solution for us is to paint unicode text on the texture. Will try to increase texture size for a next build. About the size of the thumbs ... texture size in Win XP (older OpenGL version) is very limited and graphic memory is limited as well. Also new 3D view should work smoothly on any PC including netbooks so that's the reason why to use smaller thumbs. For any future builds i'll add some properties to set up maximal size of the thumb (but can't guarantee speed of this view). Currently the texture size is predefined to 128x128 and for common graphic cards with 512MB video memory it's just ~8k covers to fill up the whole video memory.

How does iTunes or songbird make it work? Do they use a different method?

I understand when you say it should run on any PC, but at the same time if there' no option to choose the quality of the graphic it levels the feature from the bottom.

A "3D" option, as well as background color option would be great.

As for the text, why not just set a fixed size for it whatever the size of the window?

Any update on this? The font looks much better but I'm eagerly waiting for other improvements.

I looked in mantis but saw no ticket related to 3D and thumbnails size.

Tracked here: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7554

Unlikely to make it into 4.0, though.
