hey lads im new here, quick question.
how can i get my ipod to update on the fly? for example i have a playlist called 5 stars which is essentially my top rated in itunes.
my problem is when i give a new song 5 stars on my ipod when im out and about or remove some songs from my playlist it wont update itself.
plus when i sync ipod in mm it doesn't update the playlist within mm to the changes i made in my ipod earlier that day, instead it changes playlist back to what was in mm playlist.
so my question is how to i get mm to update itself to changes made from ipod ? without doin everythin from within mm?

thanks in advance

You can't MM doesn't support that kind of back-sync.

I have been trying to sync to my 4th generation iPod touch, and have followed these steps. However, MM stops syncing after some 700 out of my 6000 file library. I have it set up to convert to a smaller file-size, and I have made certain that everything can fit on my iPod. It also seems that MM cannot delete files from my iPod, as every time I try to sync it asks me if I want to delete files from the iTunes_control/Music folder. I would much prefer to use MM instead of iTunes, but it's not being made easy for me.

i downloaded MM and went through the steps to allow it to take the music from my itouch.

now it appears as though the music on my itouch wont play. i can click it and it pulls it up, but then after about 1 second it goes back to the previous screen.

can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? thanks

Having the same problem deleting files from my 4thgen Ipod, I tried searching in apple.com couldn't find any solutions though.
Is there no other software available??

I am getting similar problems syncing my ipod touch 2nd gen. I always get "the following items on ipod touch are not on sync list. Do you want to remove them from the device?" If I don't delete them, all of the duplicate tracks from my library go onto the ipod.

I just want Mediamonkey to leave all the tracks alone that are both on the ipod and in the Auto-Sync list folder. I only want it to take songs off that are not in the folder. It seems like it should be able to just update the differences and not mess with anything else. Please help!

I have been syncing by pressing "sync device" under Tools --> Sync device
Is syncing by right clicking music folder Send To --> Ipod touch (syncornize) the same thing??

Settings:
Auto-Sync list: one folder with a few thousand songs in it
Auto-Sync options: delete tracks not in the list / confirm delete
Under Tools --> Sync Device: Auto-Sync is checked ... Ipod Touch is checked

This is my first time posting on MM so let me know if this is correct or if I should have started a new thread...

I'm setting up both an iPod and an iPod Touch. So far it's been a royal pain getting iTunes to get out of the way and stay out. I think I've got it now but we'll see over time...

The iPod is working nicely, but I've got a small problem with the Touch. I can't get it to allow me to "Remove device" either manually or automatically after sync is complete. I'm really only interested in enabling the manual disconnect but thought I'd mention that the automatic disconnect isn't enabled for selection either.

On a different note, am I still limited to loading podcasts via iTunes? I'd rather stay away from iTunes completely if I can.

Many thanks,

Jeff

Sounds like you have everything set up correctly. The error you are getting is telling you that the items listed are not in your current sync list and they will be deleted from device. This will happen when you remove some items from your sync list. Are you doing that?

Dear Guest,

If I did not know better I would say you are really Steve Jobs in disguise. Too late for that I guess, or, maybe they have the Internet in heaven.

Thank you for the profound and well written post. Very good job. However, I must say that knowing what I now know from reading your post I wonder why we should pay all of that money for MM Gold? It looks like you use it for managing your music, and that is about it. I read the advertising from MM that implies it can do it all. Is that not so? If I wait around long enough do you think the brilliant monkeys at MM will pump out an update that will deliver on the advertisements? I hope that is the case because I already spent the money on the monkey, so to speak. For now, then, I will put my faith in the big Ape above and all of the little monkeys working their tails off down below to produce a product that is truly worthy of the word "Monkey", and "Gold", in the same sentence. Thank you!

Unfortunately, since iOS5 came out & once again broke the way ipod/iphone databases are setup, MM cannot sync to them directly. We are all hoping for a fix but it seems that given how long it's taking this time that Apple has made it particularly difficult...

I did it the blundering way and I managed to get MediaMonkey to put the music on the Ipod but the playlists won't play the songs. :(

Am I the only one that is completely surprised that the writer of this suggests converting MP4 audio to MP3? Going from one lossy format to the other is the worst thing you can do to your music collection.

This guide is way out of date. It was written in 2007. Probably time to unsticky.

Even in 2007, this was a bad thing to do D:

But yeah it's really out of date :<
