REQ: Now Playing
I love the drag and drop feature in the Now Playing playlist. But I have two request for the Now Playing Playlist.
1) Can you add an option to "clear' the Now Playing playlist? I accidentally added hundreds of songs to it and now I can't figure out how to get rid of them.
2) Can you add a "Now Playing" button/shortcut to the home screen?
EDIT: I just figured out how to clear the Now Playing playlist. I selected all of them and then deleted them from the playlist. That works well but I think it could be one less step. Just one button that clears the Now Playing playlist, that is only visible in the Now Playing playlist screen.

Re: REQ: Now Playing
I also found a way to do it which is easier then gbzbc's way.
Just play another playlist it clears out previous now playing list.
But use the press and hold playlist to show tools where you see an normal play arrow and the play next arrow, then press the normal play arrow.

Re: REQ: Now Playing
1) I don't agree here, since there are already two ways how to clear the list (both mentioned above), I think that it isn't worth adding another button - UI space is precious particularly on smaller devices!
2) You should get to NP list easily from the miniplayer, isn't that enough?

Re: REQ: Now Playing
I can't disagree with you on either point. It is just my opinion that it would be more intuitive and user-friendly to have a "clear playlist" button. Or if UI space is a concern, perhaps a "clear playlist" option in the settings menu of the now playing screen?jiri wrote:1) I don't agree here, since there are already two ways how to clear the list (both mentioned above), I think that it isn't worth adding another button - UI space is precious particularly on smaller devices!

Likewise, I think it would be more intuitive and user-friendly to have a "Now Playing" button on the homescreen. Yes, you can access it other ways, but I can't see any reason not to include it on the home screen. Everything else is there. And there is even an open spot for one more button.
Like I said, that is just my opinion. I appreciate all of your hard work on this and am very pleased with MMA. Thank you.

Sure, thanks for the feedback, it's useful even if (or maybe particularly when) it isn't in agreement with my point of view...

Re: REQ: Now Playing
The workflow now seems cumbersome. If I load new songs to the Now Playing I have to manually delete the existing ones. I'd like to be able to load and add as well as load an replace. I didn't see a way of doing this.

I'm don't quite get what's cumbersome.
To add and replace, you just click some other tracks and MMA replaces the current NP list with whatever was double-clicked. There's no need to manually delete existing tracks.
To add without replacing, select the tracks to add and click Add to NP.
I agree that it could be more intuitive to have a 'clear' button, but I think that once the user starts using the product, she would find little need for such a button.

I agree on the "Now Playing" button on the home screen. This seems to be an obvious feature. Right now it's hard to get to "Now Playing".gpzbc wrote: Likewise, I think it would be more intuitive and user-friendly to have a "Now Playing" button on the home screen. I'd also like to configure the icons on the home screen -- for example: I'd don't really use "Composers" or "Podcasts" so let me take them off the home screen.
Seems like swiping left/right on the home screen could be used for something -- like maybe going to "Now Playing"
MMA is getting closer all the time.

No open slot any more, and no space for an extra row on my 7" tablet (Nexus 7).michaelsoft wrote:gpzbc wrote: Likewise, I think it would be more intuitive and user-friendly to have a "Now Playing" button on the home screen.michaelsoft wrote:gpzbc wrote: Likewise, I think it would be more intuitive and user-friendly to have a "Now Playing" button on the home screen. If anything is queued to play, the micro player shows at the bottom of the home screen, which gives access to the full Now Playing screen.
Maybe not as intuitive as a Now Playing button, but is better featured as it gives direct access to track skip back/forth & play/pause facilities.

Really? On my Galaxy Tab 2 7", there's room for another row, possibly for two. And there could easily be three or even four columns.Barry4679 wrote:No open slot any more, and no space for an extra row on my 7" tablet (Nexus 7).
What should the Now Playing screen display if there is no list? It makes some sense to me that there's no way to get there, since there's nothing you can do there. But I agree, it is a little confusing to not see it—until you expect that behavior.

Re: REQ: Now Playing
There seems to be something of a paradigm in Android media players to have a basic split between the content browsing functions and the player functions, and the Now Playing list seems to be considered a component of the player rather than its own thing.
In Play Music, to see Now Playing, you navigate to the player first and then tap an icon to switch the middle section of the screen between the album art and the np list.
In BeyondPod, to see Now Playing, you navigate to the player first and then pull the np list down window shade style over top of artwork.
I've removed my other players lately to force myself to focus on MMA, but I seem to remember others having a similar approach.
Coming from MM desktop, this feels counter-intuitive. On the desktop, we access the Now Playing list in the same part of the interface where we access the Artist/Album/Genre browsers, the playlists, or whatever else. However, I like the idea of keeping MMA consistent with Android's design queues, so my vote would go toward not putting Now Playing on the main screen and leaving it something that can only be accessed through the player. I think there's a lot room for improvement in the visual design of how the Now Playing list is pulled up from within the player, but I think in Android, that's where it should be accessed from.
(Or, at least, that's what I think today.)

Re: REQ: Now Playing
Okay, i'm going to play the village idiot. I have wondered this a couple times since this thread started but just spent time on it and I have to ask .. where the heck is there a 'now playing' playlist in MMA? And how the heck would you d&d anything to a playlist? No matter where I look i see nothing about 'Now Playing.
For 'Now Playing' playlist are we talking about ... If i go to album and click on the first song it goes to the 'cover' page an says 'Now Playing' at the top. On the bottom there is the

If i press that it goes back to the album track list. Is this what we are talking about the 'Now Playing Playlist'?
Also I have found no way to D&D anything. I can 'select' a track and then select the 'playlist' icon but I don't see any 'Now Playing' ..
Oh my ... why am i so lost <sigh>
