RipAudio sequence enquiry

Post by Johan Jooste »

Guys please advise - when importing a CD why does MM4.x import the tracks randomly from the CD instead of in sequence from track 1 to track 10 ?
I've noticed that it jumps around and imports lets say track 3 then track 8 then track 1. In the end all the tracks are imported no issues just wondering why ?

You have multiple cpu cores, one track is longer then other one and each is on its own core.

hThus if I understand correctly MM is configured to use all cores, in my case its 4, to function optimally. Am I correct in assuming then that a track is assigned to each core and whichever one finishes first gets loaded into the library ? Sweet !? :D

Yes it is really default action of windows to use cores like that for each file or program,
Mm gold allows you to change what mm uses each core for. But changing core instructions can slow down the system and / or the programs tasks,

Also Bill2's Program Manager its freeware, will allow you to set every program on the computer to use the cores the way you want them used,

With 4 id leave mm use all on realtime when in front or in background.
And then split up everything else on the other 3 cores in high priority in front and below normal in background. Programs like mouse or keyboard drivers and other small programs only need use of 1core. Monkey would get the lions share of cpu cycles that way.

Tools > Options > Performance allows you to tell MediaMonkey how many cores should be used.

Be good idea to check process use on each core if you dowhat cowboy said. You might overload one core if you do not check that.

Oh yeah thats a good catch there guest,, and that program Bill2's has a panel to show you cpu useage, so check that when setting up cause an over spike might cause even more slowing down by windows.
