Any ideas about how to improve MediaMonkey for Windows 4? Let us know!

Seems to work

Post by sunspot42 »

Ran a quick test tonight - no more crashes. Seems to work, but I do have some funny tags out there now. Not many - just a small percentage. I need to look at the same files in MMJB and see what they look like and why they might not be coming over correctly. Will keep you posted. Excellent work though - this is nothing I couldn't fix manually if I had to.

Hmmm. I'm interested in those Strange tags So that I can Explain.
If You mean About Tempo and other MusicMatch Related things that Music Match Writes in Comment Tag Field, it is not bug Wave Format Tag Do not support Tempo and Mood I do not Crop It from tag but just leave as is for you, so that you can add them in MM library Manualy. Maybe in future it will be implemented in WAVE Tagger.

MMJB .wav tags

Post by sunspot »

No, it's not those oddball tags like Tempo - I don't think I've ever used any of those. It's tags for stuff like Name and Artist that are coming across wrong / blank for at least a few artists and/or tracks. A lot of them are FLAC files I converted to .WAV's using Media Monkey awhile back, and that I thought I'd cleaned up the .WAV tags on using Music Match Jukebox. But maybe I never did, so I need to research that. Maybe they didn't have MMJB format .WAV tags at all, and MMJB was displaying the track and artist names based off their filenames and directory location or some other set of parameters. I think MMJB will do that for .wavs when there aren't any tags. The weird thing is, Media Monkey is showing the old FLAC tags for those files. I know MMJB wasn't showing those, so I'm wondering where they were coming from. Does Media Monkey tag .WAV files in a way different from the way MMJB tags them? Could there be 2 sets of tags on those files?

It's nothing I couldn't clean up by hand, it's just weird. Most of the files looked pretty good when I reviewed them last night, but I won't have time to really look at them until the middle of next week (sorry!).

Then I need to decide what format I'm gonna use going forward. I'd like to convert it all to FLAC, but iTunes doesn't support it, yet. I could convert to FLAC and then convert those FLACs to Apple Lossless for use with iTunes and my iPod, but I'd need to maintain two sets of files or I'd need to start using iTunes exclusively and switch everything to Apple Lossless. I like iTunes alright, but I think I prefer both Music Match and Media Monkey.

Decisions, decisions. But at least thanks to you guys I have options now I didn't have before. THANK YOU!!!

Mediamonkey Saves Tag info in WAV by the RIFF Standard tag and MMJB user Changed ID3 Format which is implemented by some of apps as an easy integration and RIFF Standard do not make warnings about that.
Yes there is Possibility that there is two sets of Tags and it is because MMJB do not folow the standards and writes its own tags.

That's probably it then. No biggie. I'm sure I can fix it by hand. Maybe I can delete the tags in Media Monkey on the problem files, and then clear and reload the library. Might work. I'll give it a try.

One thing it's missing

Found one thing tonight it's not grabbing from the MMJB tags - the year.

MMJB .wav tags - year not being read

Post by sunspot »

Media Monkey reads the track #, album, artist and title correctly, along with the genre, from Music Match .wav tags, but it's not picking up the year. Any chance that could be corrected?

Thanks!

Could you compress (to be as small as possible) that one and send it like last time?
That helped a lot last time.

wav import problems

Post by heldon »

just downloaded media monkey this weekend. i am converting a very large library of wav files all ripped in music match over to flac files in media monkey, and i am experiencing the same problem. certain files freeze media monkey and i have to force quit. anyway, looking forward to the fix. awesome to find a program that will read the music match meta data.
