Shuffle Play: Last Song Played

Post by Zachm019 »

Have it so if you have it on Shuffle/Random play and it goes to the next song it can rememeber the list of previous songs played... maybe last 5, 10, 25? At least one song prior.

This has been discussed many times.

Current workaround is to use randomize list instead of shuffle. It will randomize list and play them in list order. This also gives you visually a better idea of what was played and will play next.

if your wanting to play one of them again by using the back button.

then its not going to work on random since it does not keep history for that.

but if you want to know for some reason which one played like you forgot the artists name. then just click on the last 50 played playlist and look them the list should be in order of which played last. 8)

To clarify it doesn't work for shuffle. For randomize it does work as it randomizes the now playing list, but will play the now playing list in the order the songs are listed (you'll need to turn shuffle off of course).

why did you do that lowlander?

what i said, was said correctly it does not work for randomize.

when the subject of the thread is shuffle then they know it is when used in shuffle mode that is what my sentance is saying.

since he was asking about shuffleized playing he knew it will randomize when clicking the reverse play order button.

that is what he does not want.

In MediaMonkey randomize is a different feature than shuffle. Your post was confusing as you use the two terms interchangebly when they are two different features.

okay i can see you need more words in messages again so i will put more in them. but randomize and shuffle do the same thing on the player controls so they are interchangable in that sense. the randomize feature is just for the playlists.

when you click the play skip forward or backward and the shuffle mode is on. it will randomly skip to a song. which is why they are interchangable.

the key is in what your talking about and he was talking about the player button not going backward in any order while in the shuffle mode.

but i will put more words in the messages instead of slimming them down so it will help others that read it know what was being said. 8)

The button on the player is called "shuffle", not "random". Hover over it and the tooltip will tell you so! The Now Playing list has a "Randomize" feature. It would be less confusing to beginners if you used the terminology that MM uses.

My "Back Button" script (thanks for the mention Steegy! :)) will certainly do the trick, although hopefully a future version of MM will include this functionality natively.

shuffle and random are the same thing.
the users of monkey are not stupid they know that.
i don't see the need to treat them as they are kindergarden kids.
calling what clicking the shuffle button does randomize is accurate.

shuffle sounds like you moved 3 songs around and that was it.
old men shuffle across the floor.

people shuffle the papers on a desk when looking for something.

media monkey randomizes the songs when using shuffle mode, thus making shuffle and randomizing the samething, when talking about the player buttons. when talking about the playlists they are different things.

in this case the topic was talking about the player buttons.

WOW Thanks a TON trixmoto!!! Do you happen to know if there is a way to create a short cut for that script? I got it installed and working just wondering if there was a way I could press a key combination for it to work... now on the sad note while I was typing it this message it went forward to another song and I got two error messages...

Do you know what is causing this?

@Zachm19

Maybe you should move the discussion about the particular script to the script's own topic, in the scripts forum. that way all users/future users of the script will benefit from it.

cheers :-)

the small error is telling you monkey had an error in a script.

the big one is telling you where the error is and what script it is in.

this is tipcial of auto run scripts that run on que after a song has finished.

oh have to edit in as i forgot the more words.

the above is tipcial of an auto run script with errors in it or one that was messed up by some one trying to modify the script and put the errors in it.

just what ever caused them it is fixible by some one. either the modifier or the script author. if the auto script does not have errors then it wont show alerts, the two alerts are only tipical in auto scripts but can be caused by other scripts that have been poorly composed or have been messed up by a modifier, but i have gotton both errors more on the auto scripts then the non auto scripts.
