FLAC bitrate for long tracks

FLAC bitrate for long tracks
Using 2.5.4.974, there is no bitrate displayed for FLAC encoded track that are greater than 25 minutes in length. Minor calculation bug of some sort, I suspect.
Could you tell me what APP you have used in encoding Flacs so that I can test it?

Peke, I have also a couple of big flac files without bitrate. I checked them in mp3tag and they are all ripped with EAC except one.
Another strange thing is that some other big flac's I have displays bitrate between 2400 and 3013? They are displayed correctly in mp3tag though.
All the flacs files i have that displays either wrong or no bitrate are over one hour in length.
Do you want any other info or the actual files - let me know.

Hi Peke,Peke wrote:Could you tell me what APP you have used in encoding Flacs so that I can test it?
I use EAC, V0.95 prebeta5. The encoder string lists "reference libFLAC 1.1.2 20050205", and I use "-8 -V" as part of the command line string along with vorbis comments for artist, album etc.. Anything over 25 min. has no bitrate displayed in either the track properties or the playlist/now playing windows.
Thanks both of you, that will be enough for start with. Will Keep you posted on progress.

Didn't we do that always? Just kidding.
Thank both of you for pointing the bug, good explanation which results in fast fix no matter how small that looks.

Follow up: I installed 2.5.4.978 and the problem files still showed no bitrate. I tried several things to force MM to rewrite the tags. Changing tag names or file location had no effect, but recalculating the leveling (I use the album ReplayGain command in foobar2000) worked and all bitrates are displayed and match what other programs report. Thanks Peke, 17 min to squash a bug is mighty impressive.Peke wrote:Thank both of you for pointing the bug, good explanation which results in fast fix no matter how small that looks.
I just rescanned the folders where the files were!

That was the first thing I tried. A rescan didn't work, so I deleted a couple files in the database and scanned for them. Files were added back but no bitrate was displayed. I tried an auto convert from FLAC to FLAC (to a temporary folder) and the new files had bitrates displayed. I tried several things to force the tags to be read. The volume leveling worked, which was a relief because the next step would have been to re-rip the CDs. Would the ReplayGain information cause any problems when scanning tags?Peke wrote:Me to, also even if they are allready in library My computer node should show correct info.

Strange, I'm glad that you have found a workaround.
If you figure out what exactly coused the difference from original and converted keep us posted.
Re ReplayGain: It should not matter and make problems.
P.S. One more thing could you Delete few files without Bitrate from Library, Maintain Library, Copy them to some folder and use My Computer Node to see them in Track view without adding them to library, finaly post the results.
