Yes, I've started receiving this error. I'm trying to fix it at the moment so hoefully I'll have a fix soon! :)

Album node in Option dialog

Post by claesbrandt »

Sorry if this has been posted before, this script is popular, so there are many posts. When I enter the options dialog for BrowseByArt, under Appearance the Album node always gets set to hidden. I have to set it to visible every time enter the option dialog. So even if I set it to visible, the next time I enter the option dialog, it has been automatically set back to hidden.

Mayby I am missing something. Btw, great script! I Use it all the time :-) I even sold the idea of MediaMonkey to my boss because he saw the album browser.

Error #5 - invalid procedure call or argument: 'Left'

Post by jamesb9 »

Trixmoto -- still my favorite MM script but for the last few versions I have been unable to use. When I choose a Browse By Art node the first time I get the following error message:

Error #5 - Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Invalid procedure call or agrument: 'Left'
File: "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\BrowseByArt.vbs", Line: 1217, Column: 4

After clicking OK I get another error message that says "Error executing script event." Thereafter, any time I choose a BrowseByArt node it simply show the "Generating..." screen.

Any thoughts?

Version: 4.5

Description: When selecting a Genre node whose name contains a forward slash "/", an error occurs.

Steps:
1) Create Genre called "Pop/Rock", or anything else with a forward slash.
2) Click on it in Browse By Art.

Result:
Error #76 - MS VBS runtime error
Path not found
File: "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto\BrowseByArt.vbs", LIne: 805, Coilumn: 12

From then on BBA doesn't work. When you shut down MM you get the following.

Upon shutdown:
COM Server Warning
There are still active COM objects in this application.

@jamesb9 - I'm glad you like the script. Why did you not report this bug earlier? The short term solution is to set the "Title mode" to "Full titles", as the error is occurring when trying to trim the title. I'll try to fix this for the next version though.

@MarineBrat - This is to do with the page caching. Again, if you switch that option off for now, it will make it useable until I can release a fixed version.

Thanks both of you for taking the time to report these issues. Hopefully I'll have them resolved for you soon! :)

Hi all,

New to MM and here - have left Foobar (over my head  ) and Winamp (which I love, but crashed nonstop). Delighted with MM, but really want this great script to work, no joy yet.

Finally installed the script, had a couple of error codes, followed advice earlier re tweaking ActiveX in regedit, get a lovely display, but get the following every time I click on the album art (doesn't matter what the default setting is):

Line 1
Char 1
Error Object expected
URL: file:\\C:/Program%
20Files/Media Monkey/Scripts/Auto/artwork/browse.htm

This means nothing to me, I am not literate technically.

Any help would be great. My OS is XP, have IE 6, Norton Security, which I do not like. MM 2.5.4, browsebyart 4.4.
Everything else in MM works good.

Thank you. Sorry if this has been done before, but it's a long thread, I cannot find a similar problem after reading it for 40 minutes.

Well ya better hurry or esle I'll expect every penny I've ever paid you to be promptly and cheerfully returned! :D

Seriously now, I should mention that I only recently discovered the page caching setting in BBA and have really liked it. I do have a couple of things I'd like to ask for, one related to page caching and the other slightly related.

First, I wish that once you view a node in BBA you could force that node to redraw. For instance, if I go into BBA settings and tell it to do 4 albums wide instead of 5, I still see 5 albums for those nodes that were already cached. It would be great if F5 or a context menu could give me the option of rebuilding a particular view.

Second, when I use the "back" button to return to a cached view, it would be nice if BBA had some way to return to the same position on the page without me having to scroll back down to whatever position I was in when I left the page.

All in all though, this is an awesome script! Thanks for your generosity!

@Danni3 - could you please email me your "browse.htm" file so I can take a look?

@jamesb9 - I'm glad it's still useable for you, for now.

@MarineBrat - the first suggestion is a good one and I'll do that in the next release. No idea how I'd go about the second one, but I'll look into it! :)

sorting by artist not working

Post by iffrunner »

Great script.
Everything works fine her execept sorting by artist goes wrong

Error # 2147418113 SongsDB.SDBDatabase SQL_ERROR
Line 1125 Column 4

I think it has something to do with an artist name with uncommon characters somewhere but how can I find this one....

Thanks for helping me out.

Line 1123 is...

Code: Select all

'Call outsql(sql)
If you remove the uncomment this you'll have...

Code: Select all

Call outsql(sql)
Then when you run th script again you'll get a logfile called "BrowseByArt.vbs_sql.log" - the last line of this will be the SQL that caused the error. Please let me know what it is so I can catch this error in the future.
