Internet Browsing
Internet Browsing
You know how when you go into net radio and MM goes onto the internet. Well, I think that you should be able to use MM as a browserso you can go into other websites than the net radio and be able to easily swith between browsing and your library. If that was possible it would be good to still be able to see the tree, the player and now playing (I have now playing hidden) so you can easily switch playlists using the tree. That would be pretty cool
.
Definitely bloatware! This is a music manager, not a browser!

I voted no because I think the current implementation of the internal browser is already OK.
Nevertheless, I think that web pages (local or on the internet) can improve things. They're beautiful (at least they can be), fast, easy to use/make/change.
E.g. a "Welcome back, blakeloth1" startpage in MM (for those who want it) with the favourites, last listened songs, proposed listening, ... . For people who don't want this, it wouldn't take any more resources (because the page isn't loaded = no resources are loaded).
E.g. a "Get Help" start point, where users can easily go to the faq's, forum, ... (because the menu "Help" or the www.mediamonkey.com is still a high step to take, for a lot of users). And a list of the most common issues + links to faq/forum/scripts.
E.g. a start(favourite)page for all Online music stream sites (that you want), links to music news, links to Wiki/AllMusic/Amazon/... for the current playing song, ...
? A new feature like in Songbird: detect streams on websites, list them and save/play them easily.
These are all things (except the last) that are easy to do with the current MediaMonkey program, by normal scripters/webbuilders (just script + html).

Extensions: ExternalTools, ExtractFields, SongPreviewer, LinkedTracks, CleanImport, and some other scripts (Need Help with Addons > List of All Scripts).
...
I don't see how an internet browser could make it bloatware because it already has one that you can access.

how ever this is something for the scripters to consider.
they can add a button on the menu to switch the list view to the override option of monkey and open your ie or other broswer in the list view area and make it fit that list view area.
this would be no extra code in monkey and the script would not be that large and the browser code is another program so monkey does not get bloated and the users that want this option could download the script and leave us that don't want the option alone and have our slim monkey program.

This has been discussed before with pretty much the same negative response.

If this is a request for a script, then it should be in the Scripts&Component section (so I've moved it here).

I don't see how its possible for integrated browing to be 'bloatware' at all when MM already includes the building blocks for browser integration already.
I fully support an integrated browser for MM.

New script:
Last.FM Node Now with DJ Mode!
Last.fm + MediaMonkey = Scrobbler DJ!
Tag with MusicBrainz ~ Get Album Art!
Tweak the Monkey! ~ My Scripts Page

It's bloatware because as soon as it got fully integrated with a toolbar, then people would want tabbed browsing, then they'd want easy access to their bookmarks and history, and various extensions, and this means added multiple toolbars, menus, etc - all of which is nothing to do with music mangement, and is therefore bloating MM.
A script however is a good way to create a toolbar with forward, backward and go buttons, with a popup to enter the address. The current address could be displayed in a progress bar.
Personally I'd have the maximum value of the progress bar always set to the number of history items, and then if you hit the back button, the value would decrease so you could see how far away from the last page you are.
