Error in files to edit - unorganized tracks node

Post by toxboy »

First - great program. I am a gold subscriber and have been using 2+ for months. I have tried each of the MM 3 alpha builds, the current one, Alpha 6, build 1050, is stable enough for me to run and test drive.

Minor problem, but I don't see that it has been reported yet.
When I choose the unorganized tracks node it reports any file with a final period in the artist or album field as unorganized. These files are organized, and when I go to auto-organize them, there would be no change in the resulting folder\ filename structure, but they keep showing up in the list. i.e - Kenny G.

This seems similar to a problem in an early version of a report "unautoorganized", by Trixmoto, I believe, that was remedied in a later version. I rely on this report feature heavily, and like the feature in MM3, but it has this trailing period (and possibly other character - but I only have the trailing period in my case) bug.

Hi.

Please, send me more details like: organize rules you have set, path + filename of the tracks MM shows as unorganized (any example).

I can confirm this problem still exists in the latest version.

My rules are:
C:\Users\Public\Music\<Artist>\<Artist> - <Title>

This is an example of a file that confused MM:
C:\Users\Public\Music\Harry Connick Jr\Harry Connick Jr. - Jill.mp3
(Note the name of the artist is Harry Connick Jr. with a period on the end but the folder does not have a period)

Other examples:
R.E.M.
I.O.U.
T.A.T.U.
Ray Parker Jr.
D.O.N.S.
P.O.D.

Hope this helps. And please don't laugh at the artists in my collection :-)

I believe it's a limitation in Windows that a folder can't end with a period. There was some discussion about it a time ago.

Bex is right Folders in windows can't have empty extension as back in DOS it is deffined that folders empty extension is reserved for DIR (<DIR> by DOS dir command).
