All Skinners Wanting Short Players.

Post by rovingcowboy »

okay here is how it goes.

there are the known errors with the locked skins we all know this. but we want to have the short players load any way right? well we have to use the full skin mode to do this.

i know i know most don't like the long player stretched over the bottom of the screen.

but if you do the following you can end up with a short player.
and have it load on the screen.

1. do it like normal as in the same way i did the ones for trixmoto. with the long stretched image.
this will allow other docking windows to go beside the player
and shrink the side down in size. it will also allow the player to move in to different dock sizes and stretch or shrink the side to fit.

the only beninfit to this is getting the background of the docking window covered up. you must allow have the player, resize code to 1,1,1,1 in the first section of the ini file
this is to fix the flashing that happens when you move the mouse over the player if you don't have that first resize set to them.

all the other resizes in the ini sections should be set to 1,1,0,0
to keep all the items on the left of the skin.

2. you can do the same as above only add in the code to keep the items in the center of the skin. and lock them in the place
thus allowing both sides of the player and the top and bottom to stretch and shrink, like i did with the esthetic hi fi skin.
that will allow the skin to go vertical also but you must use
a vertical friendly player background if you want it to a vertical skin.

3. one last choice and if you have not guessed by now its the same as the others.. make the full skin stretch across the screen. only in the player.mskn file. make the playerbackground frame left. be the full width of the image except the last 4 or 5 pixels.

take the center and make it 2 pixels wide.
take the right and make it 2 or 3 pixels wide.

which will fill in the whole player size. you following me on that.?
good now in the center and right sections you see the bitmap that you want to show there..
click it to put your bitmap in, only Don't pick the player background like you would think it was needed.
you select the pink /magenta color of the image map that is used for transparent.. now you see what i mean, don't you.

make sure both center and right sections have that image set to stretch for both the places it asks in the code panel.

now save it and you have your short player with the dock window background showing on the right. its still the skin only that right side is transparent and looks like the short skin is locked in size. because only the center will be used to fill in the area. so its transparent. the right needs to be also because it would look strange to have the player split on each side of the screen.

granted the above is not the error being fixed but it does what we want and allows the player to be moved to different dock areas and still be looking like the old small one.
