A Microsoft SP3 Question...

Post by Son of Spam »

My computer says SP3 is ready to install (I just canceled it for the time being before pursuing it later).

I had done some cursory research on the internet about it and some people were complaining about problems with their computer afterward.

I just wanted to get people's opinions about it here. So stupid question:

is this worth downloading?

well i use sp3 on all my xp pro computers. there might be some issues with it if you have turned off or blocked or removed major windows programs like IE, but that will show up in windows with out sp3 so there is not really anything i found, but sp3 does add in needed updates for security holes and makes the system run a little faster then sp2. it just depends on how you go about installing every thing as in updates do you take out the backed up files right away Or leave them in for awhile to make sure everything that might be needed can be found if it was not in the update.

but i have not had any bad luck with it and its very simple to install just make sure you get all the updates from
windows update site before you install sp3 to make sure you have previous updates installed in case sp3 just builds on one of them and does not install it.

you should go to the windows update site and then when its loaded click on the link for microsoft updates, and use that site it makes sure you got updates for any thing on your system as long as microsoft was told about them.

that sp3 is a 330 mb file to download so be prepared to spend time on the downloading of it. :)

Microsoft SP3 for Windows XP

Post by Lowlander »

SP3 for Windows XP works fine with me as well. Although installation did go wrong on one machine it now works on all machines without issue. There is supposed to be a speed increase and this seems to be the case. All this is relative to your system and you situation though.

There is one user who is having issues with running MediaMonkey 3 on Windows XP SP3, but this seems to be an isolated incident.
